SOURCE: Lose belt on Jeep Liberty 2007 4x2 3.7L V6.

Most Jeeps use the power steering pump to adjust belt tension. there is a slide bracket at the bottom and a pivot bolt on top. adjustment is made by tightening a bolt at the end of the lower bracket. I have also seen this arrangement used on an idler pulley right below the pump but I may be thinking of some other vehicle.

Should be spring loaded. Put wrench on bolt head in center and pull up, away from belt.

SOURCE: where is the tensioner pulley

the tensioner pulley is a pulley, however it is anchored to a spring loaded arm or slider which keeps tension on the belt.

remove the belt, nut in centre of pulley and use a puller for this job. It is especially designed to screw into the centre of the pulley and a bolt is screwed in pulling the pulley of the shaft. There will be mounting screws /bolts under the pulley to remove the clutch coil.

Replace belt tensioner

tensioner pulleys are tensioned by the shaft nut in the front of the pulley. Loosen it and then adjust the pulley up or down by the long bolt at the rear of the mounting bracket. IF the pulley is the type used by Ford then loosen the shaft nut and the adjustment is by turning the shaft up or down a toothed rack at the back of the pulley

Loose water pump pulley???

4 cyl or V6 - - gas or diesel ?
You can go to one of the online auto parts websites and look up the water pump to see if it looks like your pulley. Or visit a local store.
If the water pump pulley is moving, the bearing may be failing which would require replacement.

How to take the timing belt off on 2003 jeep liberty

The is a tension pulley that you have to put a wrench on to release the tension on the belt and then you just unwrap it. The tension pulley is the one that is just a pulley and it is spring loaded, move it clockwise to remove tension. I think it is either a 9/16 or a 5/8 - at least it is on my 1995 model.

Cannot see any diagram for belt path. Can some one email this to me ? 2007 Jeep liberty.

havent a clue as never seen one but providing you have a factory original then it shouldnt be difficult to place, most motors run around bottom pulley to the right is the A/C around that then the idler which is always the back of the belt up to altenator if on the right and belt always runs a least about 70/80% around this pulley then over to other side for power steering then around a tensioner /adjuster back to crank pulley. If belt appears too long then run it across the middle of the front of the engine, you should get it right by the third attempt, but it took me four attempts to do citreon berlingo .

When you open the hood look on the drivers side of the engine. There will be a pulley(Power Steering Pump) that your belt goes around, right under it on the back side is where your oil filter is located. It hangs down slightly angled towards the front of the vehicle. (This is of course the 3.7 liter V6)
