I had to change my alternator on my 1995 f150 with a straight 6 4.9l. when i took the old one off i turned one bolt a centimeter and it broke i couldnt get the ac compressor off cuz its bolted to the bracket and the wrench keeps slipping, so i took all the hoses off the ac compressor and took the alternator bracket and ac compressor off all at one time i went to go drill the bolt out i got it drilled out but i was putting a new bolt in the alternator bracket cracked so i need to know how i can get the ac compressor off so i can put it on the new alternator bracket?

Use 6-point wrenches or sockets to eliminate slip. From your post:

"i went to go drill the bolt out i got it drilled out but i was putting a new bolt in the alternator bracket cracked so i need to know how i can get the ac compressor off..."

I cannot tell whether the bolt cracked or the bracket cracked from your post above.

Do you have any kind of small cut off wheel?

SOURCE: how do i get a broken pich bolt out of my rear spring so i can replace it, drilling is not working

1. You can replace the spindle = Expensive
2. You can use a small drill bit (cobalt) and drill though enough to use an extractor to remove the offending piece.

Suggestions to help might be to use a little PB Blaster and or heat on the bolt before trying to remove the offending piece before you attempt to remove it with an extractor. Take your time as you will most likely get only one chance to get it out.

Extractor sets are pretty cheap at Harbor Freight if you have one near you. You can insert the extractor from either side in the bolt hole.

SOURCE: Hello I just replace my motor mounts had to pull

sounds like the manifold gasket is bad, or the exhaust pipe coming from the manifold head was not properly seated. Got back to auto zone and get a repair/maintence manual for your car , and it should help you get the manifold head gasket/muffler assembly back together.

SOURCE: I cannot remove AC compressor

in order to pull your bracket you have to pull the compressor of first, there are two bolts up front and one or two in the rear, those will have to be removed first

How to install a/c bypass pulley? my first one broke

Be sure to use a torque wrench, and torque the bolts to the recommended spec. Also be sure that the mating surfaces are flush i.e. no dirt or washers left over from the old mounting.. Finally, use a straight edge, to besure that the pulleys are all in line. Good luck!

The serpentine belt broke on our 1995 Eagle Summit AWD. We are trying to replace it, but are not sure how to loosen the alternator so that it will pivot forward and we can put the belt on the alternator...

Loosen the pivot bolt on bottom of alternator, tensioner slide bolt on pulley side of alternator, then back off the tensioner (which is the long bolt).

I would like to know how to change a Alternator on a 1995 G20 van

disconnect the positive terminal from battery. loosen belt tensioner to loosen belt. remove harness connection and bolts. remove old alternator, put new one in place. put bolts back on. tighten bolts. plug in harness. put belt back into tensioner, pull it tight so there is very little play in blelt and tighten. reconnect the battery.

1995 ford f150 4.9 how to remove a/c clutch

remove drive belt then aquire the clutch removal tool from Auto zone or Napa, there is a specific puller designed to remove this clutch,in some cases in order to hold the pulley while removing center nut or bolt you must use a chain wrench with an old leather belt wraped around the pulley to protect the v-ribs on pulley in order to get the pulley bolt or nut loose the clutch will just turn when trying to loosen center nut if you don't use the chain wrench to hold it, after removing said nut or bolt attach the puller to the clutch and while holding it stationary with the chain wrench proceed to turn the shaft of the puller to remove the clutch, it should pop free after a couple of turns with a socket wrench of the appropriate size. PS use the chain wrench ($22.00 Auto zone) only in the corerect direction it does not clamp effectively either direction. also sometimes there is special holding tool for certain clutches, consult Napa or the dealer before buying the chain wrench it may not be effective in holding the clutch while trying to remove center bolt.

1995 olds 88 positive battery cable stuck together

Crazyshaws:

Normally the bolt that tightens the clamp that fits down over the positive post of the battery can be removed from the cable. What happens on older cars is the bolt get all fouled up and corroded. This happened recently to me on my 94 F150. What I did was to cut the bolt in the middle with a hacksaw, then went to the auto parts store and bought a new bolt & nut for the cable and installed it. They even have packages of 2 nuts and bolts right near where the batteries are sold.

Hope this helps Good luck Loringh PS Please leave a rating if appropriate Thks
