Question about 2007 Hyundai Elantra Limited Sedan

1 Answer

The sensitivity on my 2007 Hyundai Elantra needs to be adjusted.

Everytime the wind blows the alarm goes off. We have been told there is a switch somewhere, but we do not know where.

The alarm on my 2007 ford escape randomly goes off. how is this easily and cheaply fixed?

It depends what is setting it off. If it is just a loose door latch, it is usually easy to fix. Lock the car and set the alarm. Pull on each door handle to see if a door switch opens and sets off the alarm. If it does, adjust the latch on the door to close the door more fully.
If it is not a door switch, maybe the inertia switch is too sensitive. Unless your model has an adjustable sensitivity, that problem is harder to solve.

Security alarm goes off every 15 minutes for no apparent reason

Hi Gregg, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair

Gregg, several things can cause a car alarm to go off. One of the most common reasons is the alarm switches which are mounted to doors. under hood, trunk. When these switches go bad OR get corroded from water, can cause the alarm to go off with just the blowing of the wind moving the car. Check this by pushing on each door and see if the alarm goes off. Also push downward on the hood and trunk. Even door adjustments can cause the issue, because if a door is not tight it can move and set the alarm off. One other thing is sensitivity, the alarm box can be going bad and the slightest movement of the vehicle can set it off. Under the dash on driver side the alarm box is usually placed there. You should be able to unplug it from power there.

My 2007 Hyundai Elantra Limited car alarm goes off only at one location and not always. I have had the car for 3 years. It only started doing this the past 3 Sunday nights following getting new tires...

There is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) that addresses intermittent alarm self-activation. It involves replacing a small rubber bumper under the hood.

See your local Hyundai dealer and ask them about Bulletin Number 09-BE-026.

Alarm keeps sounding on my 07 Chrysler Sebring when I use my keyfob to centrally lock it. Had same problem last year and was told it was because snow was on sunroof. Was told problem had been fixed but...

Maybe your alarm is set to high and snow or bad winds will keep it on. So find out where is the Alarm box and see if there is a little switch on it that says LOW/ HIGH and try to lower the Sensitivity. Good luck

My alarm goes off randomly

Many alarms have a mercury tilt switch for motion detection, and if it is set too sensitively, a good gust of wind can set it off.
You need to adjust its sensitivity setting.

I have a 2001 hyundai elatra and my factory car alarm goes off every couple seconds. i parked it on a slope and i pulled the E brake and that stopped the car from going off. minutes later the alarm goes...

Incorrect. Hyundai factory alarms are not like aftermarket car alarms. They activate when they sense a voltage drop in the system, not when the car gets banged on. So... if you have a battery that's low on charge that will do it (I find this a lot in cars that have stereo systems), or if you have a parasitic draw on the battery while the car is off. You can research parasitic draw test on google and figure out how to check for it. A lot of times we find a bad light switch, like the switches for the doors, or the glove box, go bad and cause the alarm to get a little loopy.

If all else fails and you can't seem to figure it out, you might have yourself a bad ETACS module which isn't cheap but it snaps into the bottom of the drivers seat fuse box. It's the black box under the fuses. Before you go that route though, pay for the diagnosis at the dealer cuz if you buy one and install it and that's NOT it then you don't get to return the opened electrical parts you misdiagnosed.

Alarm goes off for no reason

If you can turn off the internal ultrasonic sensors (many cars allow this so that pets can be left in a car) it may solve the problem. If you can't winding a window down a little sometimes will help
