A/F usually means Air/Fuel. Are you sure that there are supposed be to fuses in the slot. Take a flashlight and look and see if there are metal contacts in the bottom of the slot. I suspect there are not any and the box is one that was also used on models that were imported to USA or other country with smog engine controls.
Regarding the A/C. Does the compressor clutch lock and turn the compressor when the A/C is turned on? If no then A/C problem is probably electrical if yes then it is mechanical (not good)

You need to have an OBII scan done (fault scan) Any good parts store (Autozone, Advance, etc...) can do it for you for free. They wool pull codes and it will identify what triggered light.
