Also check the fuel pressure regulator - I had a similar starting issue and seemed to have cured it by replacing the fuel pressure regulator.

It is the Fuel Pump and Possibly the Fuel Filter Both Causing this no Start Problem.

SOURCE: 2005 Audi A4 1.8 Fuel Pump problem?

I had an Audi A4, 10 years older than yours mind you, but it would start then stop, sometimes 10 times but would eventually go. I ran a little WD40 in the key barrel and put the key in and out a couple of dozen times. Wiping it with a cloth each time, lots of dirt came off. My theory and it's only mine, is that the wear on the key left dirty metal deposits inside which stopped the chip in the key being recognised. I believe they had a security chip inside the key.
Anyway after 6 months of this nuisance it never happened again after that. Fixed my problem and a lot of frustration. Maybe help you too.

Make sure battery has a full charge. If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and fuel injector pulse.
If you have tbi fuel injection, fuel pressure is 9--13 psi.
If you have cmfi fuel injection, my info says 55--61 psi.

I have a 94 chevy cavalier. and it wont start. the coil is fine and so is the spark plugs. and it does turn over when i crank it... i would pump the gas a couple of times and it would seem to try and start...

you need to check see if it is getting fuel sounds like a clogged fuel filter and when you pump the fuel peddle you are puttting it clear flood mood which may also be leaking fuel injectors and flooding the cylinders with fuel but most likely is a clogged fuel filter try spraying starter fluid in throttle body and if starts its clogged fuel filter

Audi 5000 Quattro S - just bought it, driven to property, was sitting for 3 years in Ariaona, won't start. Sparkplugs spark, but gas seems to not have much pressure at the fuel filter; other than the fuel...

if the fuel is getting past/through the filter and to the distributor head ,make sure all lines are on fuel pump inside tank ( access under floor inside trunk ) also see if the is fuel to the injector lines, undo a line and see ,check for fuel at the cold start injector.poor fuel pressure can be a pressure regulator issue ( small gey box attached to fuel dist head attached by 2 screws )
