IF ITS FUEL INJECTED CHANGE THE SPYDER. OTHERWISE YOUR PROBLEM IS FUEL COMPONNENT RELATED INCLUDING A BAD 02 SENSOR THAT MAY NOT BE REGISTERING BECAUSE YOU HAVE A FAULTY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. TAKE IT TO AUTOZONE AND HAVE THEM CHECK IT EVENTHOUGH THE LIIGHT ISN'T ON

SOURCE: 1995 Alitma ran rough and stalled

Its just fouled some plugs again. Need an overhaul. If you just put a valve job on it it will just put more stress on the rings and will need it anyway. Not much you can do except change plugs all the time!

SOURCE: had work done on my car (36K miles on the car):

Sounds like a fuel mix problem possibly the oxygen sensor. If it ran like this immediately after the new plugs, I would check to make sure all the plug wires are on the right plugs and secure. Good luck!

You changed out too much stuff for problems in one cylinder. It could be ignition module faulty for that cylinder.

SOURCE: Won't take fuel and back fires at times

Firing order okay? the MAF can do this to you (Mass air flow) a bad connection at the distributor can do this. The distributor connection can do this if the 180 signal is missing going to the ECM. So wiggle test that connection and inspect that male to female connection. The MAF (mass air flow) in this particular year it was called a volume air flow sensor so if this signal is missing signal to the ECM it stumbles the vehicle so wiggle test that connection also check fuseable links and ground for this mass air flow.Rule of thumb a backfire always occur when timing is off giving a lean mixture. and a miss under load is a meaning for not enough fuel.2_26_2012_4_13_52_am.gif

You might have some compression issues from bad piston rings or worn valves. Could have a leaky vacuum hose or intake. Throttle body or carburetor may be dirty as well. Check the Map sensor. Hope this gives you some good ideas.

Just had a new fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs and coil pack put in, was getting 27miles to the gal, now I am getting 15!!!

possible problem is that you did not put ac delco plugs in the vehicle and now you are getting bad gas mileage.gmc vehicles only require that you put ac delco spark plugs any other type and you get bad gas mileage or poor performance

Does the fuel filter affect gas mileage

there are lots of things that can affect gas mileage. if the spark plugs and wires are worn out, the air filter being dirty, dirty fuel filter, proper inflation of the tires, O2 sensors that are contaminated and performing poorly. the first thing to do would be that the engine is in good working order, as in no check engine light, no misfire, etc. a poorly running engine will put out terrible gas mileage. then you can start with the things i listed.

Terrible Gas Mileage? In town I'm getting 14 to 15 MPG, on the hiway 22. Isn't this rater low and what can I do to increase the mileageh

If you have over 75,000 miles on this vehicle replacing the O2 sensors might help. Fresh spark plugs, new air filter and fuel filter may also help.

tire rotation, air filter, breather element,
Inspections:
Timing belt for wear and tear
other belts be it V-belts or Serpentine
radiator fluid (older than 3 years needs a flush and fill)
transmission fluid and filter change. if its a manual transmission then change the gear oil
Battery inspection
Ignition system--- Spark plug gaps, wires, cap and rotor and coil inspection.
Motor Mounts inspection
Other things good for a car of that high of mileage are flushing out the old brake fluid and filling with new....same for power steering.
mostly inspections
Last but not least... put a can of Seafoam* into your gas tank and drive it on the highway for at least 30-45 minutes. congrats on your high mileage honda :-]
