The starter motor continues to run when the car is running on a 1999 Buick century

The Starter motor can keep running because of a number of things. It receives its power from the large contacts (switch) in the starter solenoid. WHen engaged, this starter sol. allows high current 12 volts to run the starter motor.
A number of things can cause the starter solenoid to stay engaged:
A) stuck starter solenoid mechanicals. probably not the cause
B) more likely a defective start position on the ignition switch in the ignition switch
C) possibly a gummed up ignition key tumbler
I would start troubleshooting with a schematic. Make your own or purchase a service manual. IF you pull off the wire from the switch (in the center console) which actuates the starter solenoid, and the starter motor continues to run, then its not the switch or the key tumbler. its the solenoid.
Troubleshooting is the logical process of elimination.

Starting problem

sounds as if your solenoid is sticking. your starter has a "hot" wire going to it and a ground usually attached to the frame of the vehicle. try by passing the solenoid by contacting the hot and ground on the solenoid posts.

Starter stays ingauged while moter is running and trys to keep starting when you cut the switch off

This is most likely an ignition assembly issue or relay fault. I'd check the ignition lock mechanism first as this sounds to be faulty.

Trouble starting keeps running after turning it off

If it is chugging and running rough after you turn the key off, it may be "dieseling" which is caused by carbon buildup in the cylinders and the idle speed being higher than spec. Pulling the coil wire from the coil and the engine continues to run is a good example.

1998 cavilier the starter stays ingauged when the keys are out of the ignition i had to take the battery cables off to stop, i replaced the starter went to hook up cables same thing as soon as i touch...

Your ignition switch is probably defective and will have to be replaced-the starter solenoid was attached to the starter you installed, correct? If so, it has to be the switch...

I have a 2006 chevy blazer when it runs it sounds like the starter will not disengage. put a new starter on now it trys to start when the key is off. when I pull the starter relay fuse it stops. when I try...

Either the start relay is stuck, the ignition switch is defective or someone messed up the wiring. I'd start by checking out the relay then check the ignition by checking for battery voltage when the ignition is turned to start (at the relay)

My car just stop running i tried to restart it and it would not stay started

try the ignition switch.. i am not sure try turning the key and keeping it in the turn over position... if it runs it is the ignition switch probably.. it means it is running of your starter.. you will have to hold the key there tho.. because it wont stay started if you dont hold it in the turn over... it can also mean key and tumbler... do you have gas in it??

After releasing the ignition key the car will not stay running?no check engine lights on to verify a problem..

It can be short in the ignition switch connection causing this problem.Get the ignition switch and its connection checked and confirmed. Also check the starter connections.May also be a mix up in the starter wiring? Run a temporary wire from the battery to the plus side of the coil then start the car and let go the key. If it keeps running it is either the starter or a wire open or crossed. Also it can be the ignition key switch. Any way you need to check that you have continuity to the coil with the key in the on position. You can use voltmeter to check the continuity.y in the on position. ---------That's it.

My car wants to keep starting even after turning the key off

solenoid may be sticking. Have someone start the car, if it sticks tap the solenoid with screw driver handle. If that stops the starter, replace the solenoid. If it were me, I wouldn't bother testing it and just replace solenoid.
