Question about 2001 Dodge Dakota
Have replaced fuel pump, intake gasket (was leaking) has new plug wires, plugs, new O2 sensor,
Have you received the codes, what are they? very low ide will flash an oil light, raise the idle. It sounds like you have quite a problem, knowing the DTC codes is critical, a stuck converter wont make it run rough, that is a problem with the converter itself or the solenoid that controls it. Can you check for codes or pending codes?

I think you have ruled out the engine with all the parts you have replace. The transmission torque convertor is in lock up mode all the time. The engine is having to hard of a time to stay at the normal idle. The over drive clutches and soleniod are most likely damaged in the transmission.
I think you should take the vehicle to a trasnmission shop , The can check the torque convetror soleniods and pressure control soleniod.
The oil light coming on bothers me. I know you have the rebuilt engine in the vehicle but I think the oil pump in the engine is starting to go out or could be weak. The lower bearings connected to the crank shaft might be starting to leak. Have the oil pressure checked .

BEFORE TO REPLACE THE COMPUTER.
Replace the Engine Temperature sensor. ""
That work with the Computer " Normally 2 wires"
The sensor with a Single wire is for the GACE.
This not afect the engine Performance..
REMEMBER 2 wires Tenperature sensor.
Normally Located BESIDE of the Thermostat.
The same of the Engine water outlet.
After that Let me know .
Don't Replace the Computer until I give you a few TEST after this one. OK....
I hope this help on your problem..

SOURCE: 1998 dodge ram pickup 318 eng.
If the engine seems to run fine over 1450 RPM maybe there is a vacuum hose leaking or EGR valve is slightly stuck open. Any help from the OBD II trouble codes? Or is there simply no MIL and no stored information in the OBD II computer read at the local parts store through the connector by the drivers knee?
