Replace the stereo, or check the stereo wiring for any short circuit.

First I would try to disconnect the negative cable and then reconnect the cable. See if it resets.

Regulator in alternator obviously faulty, have it bench tested & fixed or replace alternator, and cure your problem.

Hello,

The only way that a wire would melt is if there is too much current going through too small of a wire--say for an amplifier.
Battery cables go:
Negative to engine block
Positive to starter
The battery is used to start the vehicle--the alternator keeps the vehicle running. When the vehicle is off and an accessory is on e.g. the radio you are running on the battery. If the 'new' battery was dead after just 30 minutes then there is another draw on the system. Why did you replace the battery? Is your alternator charging? Did you just put a new stereo in? Have you had these problems before or are they new? something had to have changed to cause these 'new' problems.
Hope this helps.

If my battery runs dead does it blow alot of fuses?

Ah , jump started it eh, you may have reversed the polarity when you connected up. This would damage the radio, the alternator and maybe a diode or two. A voltage spike may have blown the fuse protecting the radio. Look to see if the radio has one. It should anyway.

Battery died for no reason

About the only thing you can do is disconnect the battery and connect them again after 5 minutes. If that do not work check for blown fuse. Other than that then the XM radio has been damaged by the charger.

Radio/dvd/cd not working since battery died

alot of newer cars have an anti theft system for the radio and when you lose power you have to enter a code into the radio so you may have to call the dealership to get it
