Check the pink and blue wire going to the switch for power.if you have power going in press the pedal and check for voltage on the white and tan wire. if there is no voltage when the pedal is presed the switch is bad

My inside dashboard lights and back break light suddenly stopped working so cant drive it at night. Its a 99 honda prelude. I've tried changing the light bulbs and the fuse but still not working.


If the dash lights are on the same circuit as the park lights. Chances are if no dash lights... no park lights. Unless the dash light dimmer switch is on the low position. Check park light fuse. If no brake lights... which are on a different circuit and you are sure the bulbs are ok check brake light fuse. If fuse ok, unplug brake light switch at brake pedal and cross the terminals with a jumper. If brake lights work, the brake switch is faulty. If still no brake light operation suspect a wiring issue

What would be wrong if all lights work but break lights and fuse are good and bulbs are good why do i not have break lights


Brake light Switch near the brake pedal shaft is out of adjustment, or broken or wire disconnected or very bad connection. Otherwise a bad connection to the taillight assembly or a break in the wire between the switch and Taillight. Jumper the switch to test whether that is the problem. Test the Tail light by jumper from known good power to test whether it's the wire from brake light switch to the Tail light assembly.

Brake lights not working on my 1985 ford f150 after I replaced the brake switch


disconnect turn signal switch wires @ column, put power to wires to brake lights. that cks wiring to lights. next put power to wires through turn signal to ck switch. Power runs from brake light switch to turnsignal switch, to lights.

I have a 91 ford f150 and the brake lights wont work and the rear right blinker is dim. Can you help me?


Check System Fuse - A fuse is used to protect the brake light circuit from amperage overload. If the fuse has failed it will not allow the electrical current to continue to the brake lights. To check the fuse, first locate the brake light system fuse in the fuse panel which is either under the dash or under the hood in the power distribution center. Connect the test light to a ground like an engine or dash bracket and turn the ignition key to the "on" position. Using the test light probe both sides of the fuse. If the test light illuminates on both sides the fuse is okay continue onto the next step. If one side of the fuse illuminates the fuse has failed and needs to be replaced. If the fuse fails as soon as it is replaced or when you apply the brake pedal the brake light electrical circuit is shorted to ground. Rarely a system short can occur, a car repair manual is needed to find the wiring schematic for the brake light circuit. Once the brake light wiring has been located inspect and repair as needed.

Check Brake Light Bulbs - All cars have three brake light bulbs that create the brake light illumination affect. If all of these brake light bulbs fail no brake light operation will occur. I know what you're thinking, you might say all three brake lights at once? But in reality one brake light went out at a time and you did not notice. People only tend to notice something when they almost run into the back of your car to help persuade them to inform you the brake lights aren't working. Remove any of the brake light bulbs to confirm the bulb is okay or burned. After the bulb has been removed inspect the filament and replace if failed. If the brake light bulbs are okay continue to the next step.

Basic switches have just two wires, power in and power out to the turn signal switch. It should illuminate the test light, if electrical power is connected through the switch go to the next step. If no power is detected through the switch the brake light switch has failed and replacement is required. If your car is equipped with more than two wires integrated into the brake light switch a car repair manual is needed to locate the proper brake light circuit wiring.

Brake lights dont work everything else does, i checked fuses and brake switch and all bulbs,and even the third brake works. what can be the problem.


Both bulbs are burned out, fuse and switch good but it could be a bad wire that sends the power to rear lights check at connection toward rear of car, use stick or put a block in front of brake pedal to activate if testing by yourself . also remove bulb and test with test light , no light , no power ! have light bad bulbs. Also if no power then start at socket and follow wire testing periodically till you find power and the repair wire. I always use a set of jumper cables hooked to the NEG side of battery and to the ground wire of test light to ensure i always have a good ground on my test light.

Brake lights dont work


First of all check the fuse near the accelertor padel cover on your right side ,if its ok then check the bulbs,if its ok then remove the lug from the brake switch with your test lamp test the main and if the power is there then you fit the other wire from the same lug just to jumper both wires from the same lug and see if the light is on at the back and if its on then your cars brake switch is faulty.

1995 toyota camry stop lights are not working


If the fuse is fine and the bulbs are good you should check with a test light if power is being supplied to the terminals if the problem must be reached in the brake switch is on the brake pedal. Thank good luck

2006 Sonata brake lights don't work except rear deck light.


Check the connection at the brake light switch for power comming out to the barke lights,try feeding power to the brake lights manualy using a jumper wire from your fuse box or battery,unplug the wire from the switch and put power to the harness if everything is OK the brake lights will work,then you need a new switch.

Brake lights will not work not bulbs or sockets


Check for blown fuse on stop light circuit supply,
Check the lamp socket ground connection is is ok.
Use a test light to verify power is arriving at the stop light bulb socket (Note - Ign sw probably required to be ON for stoplights to function). If not, use the test light to check for power at other points in the circuit.
