SOURCE: 04 Kia Sorento stuck in 4WD Low
The 1st time my 04 Sorento got stuck in 4WD low it was towed to dealership & they claimed it was the switch. Six months later, while on a camping trip, got stuck again. The local tow truck driver saved me hundreds of dollars in towing costs. Put it in reverse for at least 10-20 feet. That's it! He said that he found this to be a common problem. I later asked my dealership why they failed to mention this solution to me. They replied that they thought I knew! Spread to word!

If the computer doesn't detect any further issues during it's next several test cycles, the light should turn off. A test cycle may not be performed unless all the conditions it requires are met (been running for a certain period of time, engine temp, etc). On some cases, can take a week or two to turn off. Otherwise you can get an OBD-II scanner and manually turn off the light if you don't want to go to the dealer
