2.5L / 4 Cylinder / 1991 Jeep Wrangler: Cranks just fine but attempts to stall out as I accelerate. Have had Tune-Up performed; Throttle Body Cleaned, and have NEW Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter, Distributor Cap, Rotary Button, Plug Wires, & Fuel Regulator , installed but the problem seems to be getting worse rather than better. I'm running out of money, time, & patience. PLEASE HELP

Very good possibility, they had issues with them, without hooking it up to scan tool educated guess, with all the money spent on replacing parts could of paid a diag fee at a jeep dealership...

Thanks for your reply - Out-of-luck when it came to locating a Jeep dealership here; I'm out in the middle of nowhere! Someone else suggested checking for a minor vacuum leak (which has been done), AND checking map sensor, pcv, egr valve (whatever that is). Sorry, I'm not a mechanic, just a victim & need help.

Have you checked all your vacuum lines. One may have rotted and has a hole sucking in more air then needed messing up the air fuel mixture. Take a can of carburetor cleaner and while the engine is running spray short bursts around the carb and theintake manifold and where any little black hose lines are hooked up.If the engine revs up in rpms then it has an intake leak sucking in air where its not supose too.
This will cause power loss. Also check your air filter to make sure it is not plugged up. Ihope this helps, The Raz

My 1991 jeep wrangler will not start. Engine turns over fine. The engine is getting fuel and has fire to the spark plugs. I have already changed the distributor (cap and pop up coil), plugs, plug wires,...

Check the timing to ensure it is correct.
Check each cylinder for the proper compression.
Try starting the jeep with some starting fluid. If it starts with the starting fluid, you may have a few bad injectors, or faulty injector wiring harness.

1991 jeep wrangler trouble starting and stalling

It could be a fuel filter clogged up or it could be a fuel pump going bad. Does the jeep start back up after it stalls? Is there any more symptoms?

What might cause a 1995 4 cylinder jeep wrangler to backfire and attempt to stall at low rpms?

map sensor would be a likely cause. check all service items first(air filter, fuel filter, etc.).

My car stalls

Check fuel filter . You have a mechanical pump & a carburetor on that model dont you?...Check fuel pressure (should be around 6-7 lbs) and check coil immediately after it shuts down...sometimes coils will act like that just before they go bad..

Jeep stalls

I had the same problem... frustrating.

I picked up a repair manual at the parts store. I took off the throttle body and cleaned it with throttle body cleaner spray. I changed the Idle Air Control Valve (idle speed motor) which was very clogged. While I had the throttle body off I also changed the Map Sensor and Throttle Position Sensor. The manual will walk you through the steps. I had never done anything like this before. If I can do you so can you.
My Jeep has never run better. Good Luck
