What can all be damaged if you drive with a bad CV boot or axel

Mainly the CV joint itself. It will become very noisy and in extreme cases seize up.

About how much to fix?

If the CV boot is leaking, you MUST replace the complete axle shaft. Even if you could buy only the boot, you CANNOT get it clean enough inside to be reliable.

As to cost... that depends upon which country you live in, and whether a Nissan dealer will do the work or a small shop will do the work... or YOU will do the work.

How do you know when your cv joints are bad.

The main but not only symptom is that as you go round corners you will hear clicking noises, the harder the lock the more clicky.
Are the cv rubber boots intact? If they split dirt gets in grease leaks out and they can get ruined so fix a boot as quickly as possible.

I have a clicking sound when I am turning. Is an immediate repair necessary?

If a front wheel drive vehicle makes a clicking sound when turning it ALMOST ALWAYS means that the CV joint boot has split, lubricant has leaked out and road grime has caused the CV joint to wear.
Examine both CV joints and look for grease that has leaked out.
IF THE BOOT has split, you should have it replaced as soon as possible. Once the ball bearings inside the CV joint wear down in size, they can catch and it's possible that the CV joint can shatter or lock up. Not a good thing if you're moving in traffic.
Yes, take care of that problem right away.

I have a dodge caravan 96. Motor is 3.3. I have a transmission leak. On the driver side of the transmission. I replace the seal, but the leak continue through the CV joint.

If it is leaking grease out of the cv joint, you will have to replace the rubber cv boot or eventually, the entire cv axle, if it gets worn because of lost grease and no lubrication.

I have a 1999 isuzu 4wd rodeo 6 cylinder and was wondering if Need to install a new boot kit or if I need to replace the entire front left cv axle shaft. I had a tear in my rubber boot and noted some...

Do not try to get the cv axle out ot the axle housing. It is a major operation. Remove boot and disconnect the inner cv joint and save about five hours of time. The choice is yours ,boot or reman cv axle. You will need to take the reman. axle apart to install it though and some new clamps. Not a simple operation.

94 Geo Prizm CV or driveaxle?

on this type of vehichle, you have two axles in the front; one going to each side. Chances are that the boot at the axle joint was torn and that is why you are having problem. In teh past people used to replace the boot, this day and age its actually cheaper to replace the axle. So you would need to replace that side of the axle (the half shaft).
