Question about 2009 Mazda CX-7

Open Question

Purchased used CX-7 with 55k. Read about VVT actuator issue horror stories so took dealer to have serviced before 60k powertrain warranty expired. Dealer claims that VVT issue was resolved and all pa

Service history also shows operation codes 80 MAZ & 81MAZ performed at 33k, both with the description of "Engine Perf LVL". From what I am reading about Mazda service, not sure I should trust their word that the VVT issue has already been addressed.

SOURCE: 2005 MAZDA 6 "using" or "burning oil"

This problem sounds like ablown head gasket, this would make the oil mix in with the gas and would result in discolored smoke out of the exhaust pipe.

misfire. #2,4,6.
v6 , option.

did you tune it up at the 60k mile? point?
i use the real FSM on toyota for correct data.

Variable valve timing system - RH bank - malfunction
best i can tell for Toy V6 with VVT.
the vvt is failing,.
get a real FSM from toy
read the page on VVT, and 1354s
then do the tests stated there.
if vvt fails that bank retards and misfires.

The Powertrain Warranty should be good for 60k or 5yrs. This is a common problem. Fix it and get rid of it before you have to shell out $6k on a new engine.

Should I be using synthetic oil in my '06 Cad DTS? Just took it to Jiffy Lube and they charged me $111.00...said it required synthetic. Haven't been using that! Think I was ripped off!!

You can use whatever you want.
You were not ripped off. That would be Fraud (ripped off) charged for a service not performed
You excepted a pitchmans offer, to sell you something

Never go to any quick lube places
Read up on the horror stories on the web,as well as Fraud

Most people get the oil drain plug stripped, wrong fluid,in wrong places, your lucky, you can still drive it.

Educate yourself. You have an owners manual, you have on your oil fill cap or close by ,what oil to use,you can call or stop by a dealer and ask questions.

My 2007 Mazda CX-7 is making a chattering sound on the timeing chain side and now the belt or pullie is squealing.

the chain has stretched, it will get worse and you will damage the engine. you need to take it to the dealer so they can fix it under warranty. they now about the problem and in the last few months have seen a lot of these. if you are not over 60k then you still have power train warranty and can get it fixed for free.

Slip ligth is on

Take it to the dealer, you have a 4 year or 60K mile bumper to bumper warranty. Unless you have over 60k miles everything they do is going to be at no charge. The slip light is coming on due to a malfunction in the traction control system. If you bought the car new, It is 4 years from the delivery date, or in other words the day you picked up the car. If you didn't buy it new, then you would need to call a dealer with your VIN number in hand and request an in service date. Your warranty would expire 4 years from that date or at 60k miles whichever comes first.

Mazda cx7 engine noise

Does the engine have hydraulic lifters? If so air can get into the chamber under the lifter and cause lifter noise.

Diagnosis and repair requires removing the Valve Cover. A fairly easy job for your local shop.
