umm if partyd solution did not work? then its the igniton switch burnt up. i had the same problem on my 2008 pontiac torrent gxp with about 16,000 miles on it! if its still in there stuck on acc position then that would leave your radio ect. on killing the battery i reccomend taking it to the closest gm dealership and get it replaced under warrenty!! if they do not have the part theyll order it and loan you a rental!! thanks!!

The 1st thing to check when this lite comes on is the alternator.
How to check it free: got Pep Bys/Advance Auto Parts/ Autozone and ask for a free "Charging System Check." They'll hook up their computerized diagnostic gizmo, and tell you which part is dying/dead.
The experts always check voltage with a voltmeter (as good as the auto parts stores machine).
If the alternator is putting out > 14V (measured with engine on, since that's the only time the alternator's working), then alternator's good.
Measure battery voltage with engine off too - if there's a 1.5-2V difference between battery voltage
with engine on and engine off, then the alternator's working to cause that difference.

It sounds like your blend door is broken. I have a 2006 Pontiac Torrent as well and this happened to me last spring. Luckily, I live in AZ so I didn't have to deal with it until now. It costs approximately $1000 to fix as they have to take the entire dash out of the car. I will take all day to fix a piece of the car that costs $97. Pontiac should do a recall as this happens to almost every car.
