If it only happened when wet, I'd suspect a bad ground first.

Hate streaky windshiels in the rain? Wipers stop all together?

I take an old pair of hose (womens), buy some loose tobacco, cut the hose to about 1 foot long making sure there are no holes in the toe or elswere, put a 1/4 cup or so of tobacco into the sock, tie a knot so the tobacco stays put. Then open the bonnet of the car, find the windshild wiper water tank drop the end of the sock into the solution or plain water, make sure the upper end of the sock is securely fastened to something outside the tank so you won't loose the bag you created and you'll be amazed at how clean the winshield will be next time you use them after squirting the windshield as usual.

If your wipers stop working all together and you can't see to drive, take a sock as the one I described, get it wet and wipe the winshield with it. The rain will then sheet off the galss as if there was no rain at all. no drops can form. The tobacco breaks the surface tention. Want proof? Take a glass of water, fill it to the top just short of spilling over. You'll notice the water actually rises above the edge drop one grain of tobacco or black pepper and the glass will immediately release the water out of the top of the glass.

Windshield washer doesn't pump fluid, dealer says I need new wiper rain sensor

If you want to bypass it, I suggest you run a couple of wires from the battery, via a switch, directly to the washer motor. To verify what the dealer has told you, take it to another dealer or independent repair shop and get them to diagnose the problem.

My 2001 Jeep started cutting out on me after long trips. Then this morning it did not want to take off at the stop sign. This the first time a light came on, Malfunction Indicator Light, and the RPM gauge...

We had a problem with our 2005 Jeep Frand Cherokee cutting out while driving on the interstate. We had the starter/iginition switch changed out and it worked fine. Note: My husband rolled it on that same interstate during a misting rain. It hit a soft shoulder and just gradually rolled. To say the least we do not own one anymore.

Wipers on 99 Accord stopped working

This really sounds like a switch problem, if it was anything to do with the wiper motor or other parts of the circuit it would not work in any mode, mist or otherwise.

Weather related electrical problems

I had this problem with mine. Do not ever use a automated car wash on your ALERO----it destroys the seal around the window. Then, when you drive in rain, water leaks into the fuse box, shorting it out. I had to replace the fuse box ($500). Hope this helps.

Wiring Short?

im dave
im not sure which ground you cleaned and changed but i would start with the oone closest to the problem area. Look under the kick panel at your left ankle or under the dash where the light switch is. Is your floor wet after these rains along that sidewall where your left foot would be? Could be you have a leak in the windshiel allowing water in there and shorting your ground.
let me know how this goes
