SOURCE: Signal lights & power windows

If all you windows are inoperative, check the fuse first, then check the main power supply to the master window switch. As for the indicators, they normally share a fuse with one or more circuits, so if perhaps your reverse lights are not working, check a fuse there as well. Otherwise look at the indicator flasher relay and finally the indicator switch and its wiring and connectors.

Welcome to Fixya

Are your brake lights coming on when you depress the brake pedal? If not it could be a faulty brake sensor, it's pressure sensitive and installs near the brake pedal mounting bracket itself.

Another possibility that might contribute to the problem is the lock module.Lock module is what drives the solenoid in the shifter module to allow you you to work the shifter.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Any light on the dash of any vehicle, you need to have it
checked out ,diagnosed & repaired in a few days, or don't
continue to use any vehicle with problems.

And don't clear the light, you need the codes to find
out where to start on solving the issues

I was asked by a family member to look up 2001 toyota highlander for troubleshooting code P1135 and tell them what it says. but i can't find it can u help me?

That is because it is a manufacture code & not a generic code

That is where having the factory powertrain & emission manuals
come in handy, if you want to spend a couple hundred dollars

Without them your not going to even have a place to start on
todays vehicles

I do not have that code, but it appears to be an O2 sensor Code

The front O2 Sensors, the ones closest to the engine before the
converter, get replaced on all vehicles around 80 to 100,000 miles

Other than that, you need repair shop help, so you don't throw
parts at a problem, without the diagnostic knowledge

If you have studied OBD2 Systems, you will understand that
check lights on your dash, do not always mean replace something

No code tells you what is wrong. Just where to start in a system
to figure things out & look for a problem

I just purchased a 2008 Toyota Highlander with the smart key ignition system. How can I prevent being stranded if the smart system won't start the car?

If the smart key battery gets low to where it won't start the car you can hold the smart key with the logo facing the start button close to the button then push it to start the engine.
