Short/ electrical issue is the obvious answer but finding it can be a "stinker" unless you have a background in electrics, a multimeter, and lots of time and patience. Has your car been damaged or repaired lately. How old is it?

SOURCE: rear brake light doesn't work when headlights on

If you take the tail light assembly off and take the bulb out, you'll see three metal contacts on the tail light assembly.  Pry them up slightly and slide a small, folded piece of aluminum foil underneath it.
Replace the bulb and try to reproduce the problem.  I found this fix online and did it to both sides of my car.. no problems since

SOURCE: headlights wont come on and bright lights won't stay on hold bright light switch and blower works

I had the same problem. The solution is simple; the ignition switch needs to be replaced. This is an easy do-it-yourself project. Here are instructions:

Check for a switch on ebay, they are about $15. After 10 years they wear out.

SOURCE: i have a 1999 jeep grand cherokee and the brake lights wont work

there's a possibility that it might be the socket that the bulb actually goes into. my break light did something similar to that. the socket only cost about 8 bucks from the dealer.

I have a 1977 Ford E-150, when I turn on the headlights I have no turn signal lights and no brake lights. With the headlights off the turn signals work fine and the brake lights are fine. My idea is brake...

Well, the headlight switch would have no connection to the brake and turn signals. But you could have a ground problem somewhere.
I would want to trace the circuit from the brake switch to the tail lamps with the headlights on to verify.
And does it matter if you are using headlights or just parking lights.

Left side of brake light wont turn on, when headlights are on.

they have many problems with the sockets and bulbs.. take bulb out look at bottom of bulb see if the two terminals are melted together.. also check good for ground to socket.... bad grounds and sockets get to hot i wouls recheck good... also if you see a little black module on light housing that will be the lamp out module... to let you know you have a lightg out.. if you have that option.... try replacing

What started this mess? tailights, fog lights, brake lights....

The relay has nothing to do with the tail lights, but replacing the switch sounds like a good idea. There's a nut holding it in place, see http://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts/electrics/switches/switch-headlight/1027524/ to get an idea of the construction. And the price. This is not worth fiddling about unreliable workarounds...
In addition, if fuses 15 and/or 16 burn frequently there might be a problem with the tail light cabling.

Good luck
