I assume you have the 4.3 vortec. If so, check to make sure you have the spark plug wires in the right position on the distributor cap. firing order is 1,2,3,4,5,6. right side of engine is 1 front 3 middle and 5 rear. Left side of engine is 2 front, 4 middle, and 6 rear. On the distributor cap # 1 should be toward front of engine and work counter clockwise from there. Hope this is helpful. KS

Sounds like it has jumped timing, dont know which engine you have so could be chain or belt.

Sounds like the fuel is draining back towards the fuel tank, which is the reason for extended cranking till fuel reaches injectors. My guess would be the fuel pump in the fuel tank. It contains a REVERSE FLOW VALVE, which SHOULD prevent this. A visible way to check would to place a manual fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail valve. After shutting the engine off note the degree of pressure drop, if any. Hope this helps

the icm, coil, and crank sensor all read off the opti. Chances are you have a bad optispark (distributor). I just went thru the same issue and found it to be the problem.
check your fuel pressure as well, you may have anissue with your fuel pump and or relay
