I assume you have the 4.3 vortec. If so, check to make sure you have the spark plug wires in the right position on the distributor cap. firing order is 1,2,3,4,5,6. right side of engine is 1 front 3 middle and 5 rear. Left side of engine is 2 front, 4 middle, and 6 rear. On the distributor cap # 1 should be toward front of engine and work counter clockwise from there. Hope this is helpful. KS

Sounds like it has jumped timing, dont know which engine you have so could be chain or belt.

Sounds like the fuel is draining back towards the fuel tank, which is the reason for extended cranking till fuel reaches injectors. My guess would be the fuel pump in the fuel tank. It contains a REVERSE FLOW VALVE, which SHOULD prevent this. A visible way to check would to place a manual fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail valve. After shutting the engine off note the degree of pressure drop, if any. Hope this helps

the icm, coil, and crank sensor all read off the opti. Chances are you have a bad optispark (distributor). I just went thru the same issue and found it to be the problem.

check your fuel pressure as well, you may have anissue with your fuel pump and or relay

1995 Tahoe 5.7L V8 won't start when it's raining

Hi, the cap, and rotor may be collecting moisture, or the ignition coil shorts out with moisture. You can spray these with a water bottle, while it is running, to find the concern. It lies in one of these ares. Make sure you inspect the coil wire as well. Good luck...Coop

the cheapest and quickest way to check for spark is replace your crank sensor if youve done this and you still have no spark then try a coil pack.

Truck will not crank-- just replaced distributor cap and rotor

If this did not start after Dist. work,I would rule this out. I would replace plug wires, distribter cap and roter.
