SOURCE: car turns over great will not start

IT DEFFO SOUNDS LIKE LACK OF FUEL, BUT FOR IT NOT TO RUN AT ALL UNLESS THROTTLE IS FULLY OPEN DOESN'T SOUND LIKE AN INJECTOR, MORE LIKE NO FUEL AT ALL, LIKE THE PUMP IS KNACKERED. PULL OUT AN INJECTOR, PUT IT IN A GLASS JAR, THEN TRY AND START IT, IT SHOULD GIVE A BIG POWERFUL SQUIRT OF FUEL, TRY ALL THE INJECTORS ONE AT A TIME, BECAUSE ITS QUITE RARE FOR ALL THE INJECTORS TO GO AT TE SAME TIME

SOURCE: 89 chevy s10 blazer puff smoke out tailpipe when 1st started

the puff of smoke is one of 2 things, dampness in the exhuast from setting over night, like ice water on a hot day ,the glass draws miosture, this is harmless, the other is worn valve seals,a puff of gray blue smoke then it,s gone, harmless.,but if it smokes while your driving it after 2 minits you may need new positive check valve $5 part,if it uses excessive oil have it checked

My sub impreza 1995 wont start sometimes ive been told cold start valve?

Have you had it hooked up to a scan tool ? check sensor data ! Your vehicle has no cold start valve . Black smoke out the back indicates a rich condition , holding gas pedal to the floor causes the engine computer to go into WOT mode shutting off the injectors . Suggest you do injector leak down test , leaking fuel injectors ! Ever replace fuel injectors ?

My1993 Chevy Silverado backfires and bogs

The short answer for that is too much gas getting by the exhaust valve, common problems here are bad spark plug, wires or distributer... they should be replaced as such... plugs every year, wires every year to 2 and distributer every two min... the next thing to check is air filter clean and unrestricted, if it is happening as soon as it warms up check the choke to see if it is sticking on, if you have been playing with the plug wires make sure they are on in the right sequence...ie.. wire 1 going to plug one etc. Then if u are still having a problem check the timing, if it is out your fire will be occurring while the exhaust valve is opened.... if it back fireing and not shutting off right away when you turn off the engine then it is a build up of carbon on the inside of the heads... this heats up and ignites the gas when it gets hot and causes a sputter... but most likely in the timing or miss place wires on the wrong sparkplug... very common problem. . Avoid this by taking one wire off replacing the spark plug and reconnecting. Then repeat processed for each plug... same process if your replacing a distrabutor... mark the old cap with a grease pen on the housing and up on th old distrabutor... . Will give you an orientation for the new cap... then pull one wire off the old cap and insert it into the new cap on t same loc.. ps. On t t t t cap there will be numbers... find the number you unplugged from and plug it into into correct # on the new one... then remove the old cap when done and line up the new cap with that grease mark.. simple..takes about 4 min to do. I always replace the wires with a high grade kit when I replace the cap.

Check for spark at the sparkplug, to see if everything in the dist. is working right. And check the injector harness for something being pulled loose when the wires were jerked out.

1983 CJ-7 Had someone put water in gas tank? Blew out lines, rebuilt carb and cleaned out, cleaned tank, gas dryer and new fuel, new fuel filter (clear), new fuel pump, replaced rotor cap, plug wires,...

You put something back the wrong way.....any amount of water in the tank, carb or whatever WILL NOT cause the engine not to fire.....check any wiring/rewiring you did for accuracy

My 97 pontiac grand am gt with v6 rides rough and has the check engine light on. What would cause this to happen. I put in new spark plugs.

First thing to check, pull the wire off a plug at a time and see if each cylinder is getting fire, when you do this let me know and I will help you figure this out. If one of the cylinders arent getting fire you have a bad coil.

I have an 20005 acura mdx and it wouldn't start for several attempts. after about 5 mins it started rt up and has not done that again. The horn would blow and there were no indicator lights on. Could...

Sounds like it was flooded. Next time it happens. keep gas pedal all the way to the floor and hold until it fires. water in the gas, or just bad gas can do this. But if you pumped it at all while trying to start it if fuel injected can flood it. Let it sit and try again, or keep gas pedal to ground and hold until starts.

remove and ground a sparkplug with the plug wire attacked or attach a screwdriver into plug wire an set by strut tower bold see if you have spark at each wire if that is all good it may be a timing issue

98 malibu, cranks no start, good fuel pressure, good spark, pulled valve cover and rockers are moving, starter seams to spin to freely like there is no compression

may be flooded. hold down gas pedal all the way and crank the engine, after a short time the engine will start to splutter and sound like it will fire. ease the gas pedal off slowly, while cranking, enough to get the engine started it may take a couple of goes. it may blow grey smoke when you get it going this will be raw fuel. holding the gas pedal down all the way, the engine will go into CLEAR FLOOD MODE and the injectors will not deliver any more fuel, until you ease off the pedal. check for dribbling injectors and the shop.
