The transmission is an AOD, the rear differential is either a 7.5" or an 8.8" look at the tag on the rear it should have either 7.5 or 8.8 on it.

If you can not find a Haynes or Chilton Manual for sale in your local parts store, you should check your local library, they may have the manual or repair (shop) manual that you can copy pages from for your use. This way you will have pictures.

It's a lot of work. I've rebuilt my engine.
It's just way too much info to put on the computer.
The best and easiest way for a Do-It-Yourselfer is to get a Chilton Manual for the autoparts store. It's cost about $20. It's will show you everything on how to do it step by step.
Here's what your look at to get the job done:
Removing the radiator, belts, pulleys, AC pump bracket (if it has AC), valve cover, distributor, and timing chain cover.
You'll have to replace:
Timing chain ( of course ), valve cover gaskets, timing chain cover gaskets, coolant, engine oil, and O-ring for the distributor.
It would be a good idea to replace the oil pump as long as you have everything part.

first you have to diconnect throttle cable and trans kick down from throttle body. than disconnect wires and vacuum hoses and remove upper intake manifold plenum. that should give you access to valve covers . Remove bolts from covers and change gaskets. also replace the gasket on the upper intake plenum. install items in reverse order of removal. keep track of vacuum lines where the go when you remove . mark with tape their location.
