How can I get better fuel economy out of my 2011 glr

when did the vehicle last have a major service ? i'd also consider adding a fuel addative , get one that covers the catalytic convertor as well as the injectors, valves etc , this will clear any carbon deposits etc that build up on the sensor points etc, this is particulary important if the vehicle does a lot of stop start journeys, take for a longish drive once the addative is in 50-100 km so that the engine gets to a good working temperature, also at a highish speed not poodling round town etc ,how often do you check the tyre pressures ? wrong pressures can have a major impact on fuel consumption

Why is so ******* oil consumption?

Older motors do use more oil. The oil is leaking because the springs between the piston and the cylinder are a bit worn out. The cylinder and pistons also wear a bit. You could minimise the oil usage, when you let the motor give a revision. That will cost a lot. As long as you don't need to pour in more oil you should try to live with it. Don't buy expensive oil, because it can't become old in the motor.

Hyundai coupe excessive fuel consumption

Unless the Check Engine Light is ON, there is no vehicle-related issue to fuel consumption. The computer will deliver the exact amount of fuel needed to satisfy the demands placed on the engine, using input from a large variety of sensors, including the accelerator pedal position sensor. Fuel economy estimates in the USA are just that, estimates, derived from a chemical analysis of emissions, and not actual driving. And no vehicle ever hits those numbers.

There are numerous outside factors that have a negative impact on fuel economy:
Vehicle maintenance, driving conditions (stop & go driving KILLS fuel economy), accelerator pedal usage, overall vehicle speeds, loads carried, etc.

Remember, the more you use the gas pedal, the more you use the gas station!
