The blower speed controller is located under the hood on the right or passenger side on the heater housing just to the side of the heater hoses near the very back of the right cylinder head.
Yes that would cause the concern you are having.

Remove your air intake hose at throttle body opening. Look at plate across front of the opening, the shaft in the center that it is attached to, will have your TP sensor on the end of it, at the outside of the housing. This may help. (picture)7fc7240.jpg

Need help locating vss on trans for a 2000 F350 4X4 7.3 motor


1. Your ABS/ VSS can be removed and cleaned with just a clean rag, no need for wd-40 or any other solvent, also carefully clean out the hole on top of the differential, lift the vehicle (place in neutral) and check the sprocket wheel inside the pumpkin for possible missing teeth or to see if it is loose.

2. The VSS (part # F85F-9E731-AA) can also be tested with an ohms meter, it should measure ~1.9 K-ohm or higher (lower than 1.9 requires replacement).

3. The VSS is a hall-effect sensor, connect a volt meter to the sensor connector and wave a piece of metal (pair of pliers or flat metal) about a half inch away from the sensor, and you will consistently see a variation in voltage, if no movement on the volt meter is observed, replace the sensor.

4. You also have the two front wheel ABS sensors, try cleaning them first, and carefully reinstalling them.

5. When the VSS sensor is malfunctioning, the PCM may try to get input from the TSS (turbine speed sensor, top of the transmission), and as it turns out, the same return wire is used by the OSS (output speed sensor, tail end of transmission), check these two sensors also, clean them and test them (1.10 K-ohm or higher). These are also Hall Effect sensors, so check for voltage as described in paragraph 3 above.

6. Pay attention to see if your ABS light blinks when you start the vehicle, just before it stays solid. If this is happening, count the number of blinks, as this is actually a code and the blinking means the vehicle is trying to communicate with you.

7. Last, if nothing above corrected the problem, I would start tracing RFI (radio frequency interference), one sure area is usually your fuel pump (wires running along side VSS wiring. ABS/VSS wiring is routed directly to the ABS module.

I hope this information works for you.


There are two "speed sensors" though that can be confused at the parts store. They don't look the same but they are listed almost the same. The one on the rear diff is listed as the "ABS speed sensor"....the one on the tranny is listed as the "Speed sensor" The rear one is the cheapest and easiest to replace...about $12.

The speed sensor for the speedometer should be in the side of the transmission.
The only thing you would see from the outside is the wiring harness plug.

A defective vehicle speed sensor (VSS) may cause improper converter clutch lockup, improper cruise control operation, and inaccurate speedometer operation.
  • Prior to VSS diagnosis, the vehicle should be lifted on a hoist so the drive wheels are free to rotate.
  • Backprobe the vss output wire and connect the voltmeter leads from this wire to ground.
  • Select the 20-volt AC scale on the voltmeter.
  • Then start the engine.
  • Place the transaxle in drive and allow the drive wheels to rotate. If the VSS voltage signal is not 0.5 volt, or more, replace the sensor.
  • When the VSS provides the specified voltage signal, backprobe the VSS terminal at the PCM and repeat the voltage signal test with the drive wheels rotating.
  • If 0.5 volt is available at this terminal, the trouble may be in the PCM (powertrain control module).
  • When 0.5 volt is not available at this terminal, turn the ignition switch off and disconnect the wire from the VSS to the PCM.
  • Connect the ohmmeter leads across the wire. the meter should read zero ohm.
  • Repeat the test with the ohmmeter leads connected to the VSS ground terminal and the PCM ground terminal.
  • This wire should also have zero ohm resistance. If the resistance in these wires is more than specified, repair the wires.
  • The condition of a speed sensor can be checked by going through the diagnostic routines for the system.
  • If this test indicates that a sensor is faulty, the sensor should be replaced.
  • Speed sensors can also be checked with an ohmmeter. Most manufacturers list a resistance specification.
  • The resistance of the sensor is measured across the sensor's terminals.
  • The typical range for a good sensor is 800 to 1400 ohms of resistance.

I am looking for the speed signal output wire for a 2005 kia sedona.I am trying to hooh up a taxi meter.Can you help


Do not hook anything to a vehicles electrical system
You will load the circuit and have all kinds of issues.

The Speed Sensor is an output sensor that sends a signal to the
vehicles computer, for shift control stratagy. The output
will also be unusable for what you want to do.

When driving the car the speedomator goes to 0 and then the tranmission starts slipping


There's a possible worn out clutch inside of the auto transmission. The speedometer going to zero could be the transmission not sensing speed, and then disengaging the transmission to keep the car from stalling at a stop sign, maybe.

Try looking at the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) circuit on the transmission.

Here are some tests that can be performed on the VSS:
