SOURCE: HARMONIC BALANCER

I have a '94 Tempo, it had a "ticking" sound. It was the "harmonic balancer" (crankshaft pulley) a local mechanic changed it for $60, the part cost me $120 (I work for a Ford dealership) $180 without employee discount. you can get one for much less at a junkyard if you can find one. Good luck, Sean

SOURCE: Mitsubishi Eclipse Harmonic Balancer 3.0L Removal

There is a panel inside the wheel well that you can take off that gives you perfect access to the harmonic balancer. A special tool is required. i had my dad make one because he has access to whatever he needs at the factory. but you can get them at the dealer. i have no clue how much they cost. I can't see any way of doing it without the special tool. after you get the tool its pretty simple to get off. it takes alot of force to break the bolt loose though. i used the handle off my jack as a cheater bar. hope this helps...

Were is the crank sensor located on a 2000 ford tarus

Most crank sensors are located somewhere or near to the crankshaft or sometimes near the camshaft. Trace the wiring harness down to the bottom part of the engine around the harmonic balancer. It should be near it. Hope that helps.

Where is crankshaft sensor located on the 02 explorer xlt, 4.6L, 4x4? How's the best way to change one?

Hello rgates53: My name is Roger And I will answer your question. The crank position sensor is located on the right side of the harmonic balancer. The repair manual refers to dropping the A/C compressor out of the way. Just take the bolts out to gain access needed. Remove 10mm. bolt to remove sensor. See attached picture. Should you need further help please just ask. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger44d050a.jpg

Replacing 2004 cavalier crank sensor, i can't locate the best way to replace it. need a diagram or where i can find it.

The crankshaft position sensor should be located on a small metal bracket very close to the harmonic balancer which is attached to the end of the crankshaft. If you are having trouble locating the harmonic balancer, it is the lowest pulley on the passenger side of the engine, in the center line of the engine.
