I think my starter is going bad on my 1996 Galant

When the weatehr was cold it started hard... once or twice. Before that I had NO problems at all. Now when I start it it makes a noise almost a whining noise. I don't know how to tell if it is my starter or not....I don't even know what a starter looks like or where it is located? ((( help )))?

1996 Mitshubishi Galant ES, 4 cyl. when i turn the key it clicks n doesn't always start, i have radio, lights, new battery, ignition switch, starter and selinoid some times it's worse than other times.

it sounds like you may have a bad wire leading to your starter selenoied try replacing the wireing to your starter and when you make the connections put some dielectric greese on the connections to prevent carrsion

you may also have a bad relay replace it before you replace the wires to your starter

i hope this helps

2000 Mitsubishi Galant ES Starter Problems: Battery checks out fine. Electrical systems working. No blown fuses. Cables and plugs seated properly. Fluids all at proper levels. Car will not jump. Will only...

I think the electric smell is from the wires getting hot, from the cranking amps delivered by the battery. When your car does'nt start it's normal for you to try, and try again, over and over to start the car . . . making the wires heat up with all that juice.

95 grand prix wont start after engine warms up

Sounds like a hot soak issue with the starter.I bet the starter needs replacing. The only other cause I can think of is maybe the starter lost a heat shield. I am not sure, however, if it actualy has one as OEM or not.

My 1996 lincoln continental will not start after I drive and park, however if I let the car cool off it starts again. What's the problem?

Sounds like your starter is bad. A bad starter will function when it's cold but once you drive around, the starter heats up and requires more power to start (a jump start). This is almost always the case. Most shops will do a free check on your battery and charging system and this should be done prior to making a repair but all things seem to point to your starter. Hope this helps and good luck!

Jeep doesn't start

I would suggest the starter. The brushes in the starter tend to go bad over time and you may be hitting a dead spot in the starter when cranking it. Another indication that the starter could be a problem would be the engine is cranking over slower.
