Yep, it sure can. if everything is hooked up and the car wont start , then its probably 180 degrees out which means you have to pull it out and turn the shaft a half turn and put it back in.

My starter needed to be replaced. After installing the new starter and a new solenoid I no longer have any power to the ignition switch. What could have happened?

You could have put the wires to the wrong posts on the solenoid or possibly made a short and have blown a fuse in the power distribution center, or burned a fuseable link.

What are the steps to follow when youre going to install a 1991 Toyota Camry 2.0l Distributor,

Take the screws out of distributer cap, mark exactly where the rotor is pointing with paint pen on distributer cap and distributer. Loosen bolts holding down distributer. Lift out distributer after you unplug electrical wires. Place new distributer in place making sure rotor is pointing to exact same place where the old one pointed. Replace distributer cap and electrical wires and your done, try to start the car.If car starts your ok.If it doesnt start andd backfires it means rotor is in wrong place, take back out and restab it.good luck

Just replaced engine in my 97 its a vortec brought it to tdc put in distributar it turns over and tries to start but wont i turn it just a little it acts better but i cant move it far enough

take the spark plug out of the #1 cylinder and turn the engine by hand until the piston is at the top dead center of its stroke (put a screw driver in the hole and you should be able to tell when its all the way up). now pull the cap off the distributer the rotor should be pointing at the #1 cylinder wire. if not then the distributer is in the wrong possition. remove the distributer and point the rotor in the correct possition(#1 cylinder) and place the distributer back in.also if this is a used engine replace the cap, rotor plugs and wires.the truck should start. Hope this helps you out.

Where is distributor located1995 960 6cyl

hi, if you follow the leads that come from the top of the spark plugs where all these leads plug into is the distributer their will be four leads running along the outside going to each spark plug then the lead that goes into the center of the distributer goes to the coil.

So if you follow the four ht leads from the spark plugs what these all plug into is the distributer, if you are removing the distributer then make sure you mark where each lead goes as you need to put them all back in the right place.
Its best if you mark say the first lead with a 1 and then write a one onto the distributer where that lead goes into use permanent marker pen to do this so it dont rub off. getting the leads the wrong way round will mean the car will either miss fire or not run at all so just keep it all marked up properly.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Vacuum line or spark plugs?

If the vac. line went to the distributer cap you need to get a new 1 take off the line and take it to the auto parts store and get a new 1. What that vac. line does is adjust the timing when you give the car gas. Did he make shur to gap the plugs to the wright gap? If he did and you put a new vac. line on check all of the vac. line if they have cracks change them. If the still runs ruff he might have moved the distributer, or he might have got the wires wrong if he changed the spark plug wires. Change the vac. lines first they are cheap.
