Hi Peter, Your problem could be associated to broken, damaged, or loose fitting vacuum pipes, a defective throttle position sensor, air flow sensor or mass air flow sensor. I suggest that you inspect the vacuum tubes and then carry out a diagnostic scan before doing anything else. Regards John

Car dies when it warms up. just replaced carb, think it has to do with this

Vapor lock again! Make sure the fuel lines are away from hot surfaces, or insulated.
Also, when it warms up, the automatic choke turns off, and the idle setting has to be set to run at that temp. There will be idle jets, maybe two, and idle stop setting for the linkage.

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak. When the engine is cold the leak is there but as the engine warms up the parts start to expand thus closing the gaps and sealing the leak. I had this problem on my personal vehicle and it turned out to be lower intake gaskets.

2000 Alero idles low and dies when stopped.

How does it idle when you first start or idle when hot.
On the top of the air intake tube there is a small screw which should when screwed in speed up the idle and if it dosent work or it idles fine when cold or warm at idle then its your GEARs are binding up and there's not to much you can do about that ........sorry

Turns over but wont stay running or idle

Sounds ike the fuel pump died. As they get old and your car is about that age the start to overheat after being in use for a while. They stop pushing out the fuel consistantly and then stop working all together. Sometimes letting them cool back down will allow you to use it for a short while before it dies again but in your case it sounds like it just gave out. Remember fuel in the tank helps cool the pump when in use.

Tis is a good place to start, good luck.

2002 Jeep does not idle

Well alot of people tend to think that just because they have a vehicle that is new or within 10 yrs of new...that they can get in it and strart up and just take off...well...the truth is and especially in Winter months is that you have to warm up your vehicle till the water tempature gets to where it needs to be ...warmed up.....in order for all the systems in your vehicle to work properley.....so Warm up your vehicle everyday before you drive it....don't just hop in and take off......This is my solution to this problem, especially if it is a seasonal..problem.....Sincerely, Mike

Have a 1989 Honda Accord LX and my idle after warmed up, every time I come to a stop my car dies. I've changed plugs, set idle speed a number of times, it will run good for a few days and then it's right...

If you can keep the engine running with your foot on the gas at a stop it is likely to be the Idle control valve. Older Hondas' have 2 valves. fast idle control (which is prone to cause fast, or surging idle due to vacuum leakage) and the Idle control that takes over from the cold idle control once warmed up. They are located at the throttle butterfly assembly.
