1. Check all the cable connections on the battery and on the alternator.

2. If they are all fine then have the alternator checked because from what you have described it is not charging. The usual problem is worn brushes in the alternator.

Gave a jump start and now headlights don't work on a 2005 yukon denali

sound like battery has weak or battery terminals and post need cleaning. have battery charged and checked, if battery good. alternator not charging battery. if battery over 5 years old more likely battery is bad.if battery too weak head lights wont turn on battery dead this time of year if battery old. cold weather will finish it out.

2005 dodge stratus wont keep battery charge

it still could be either your battery or your alternator you'll need a volt ohm meter to check the output of your alternator you should be putting out around 14.5 volts at 1200 rpm. if it dosen't replace it if it dose charge up your battery and see if it holds a charge overnite. it sounds like an alternator issue

How to replace an alternator on a 2005 ford focus zx4 standard. my car has only 81000 kms on it.. and i believe the alternator is going. my battery wont stay charged. everything in the entire car just goes...

It may just be the battery. If it won't stay charged and is more than 3 years old,it may be a somewhat rare early battery failure. Put the new battery in or charge your old one, and check the voltage across the battery terminals with it running. That should solve the alt issue, if you get 13 or more volts. Call, stop by or got to web site of an Auto Parts Store for a price. The alt can go from $150 to $450 depends on application
