Sounds like you have damaged the engine, you will need to have the engine checked for a blown head gasket, this is not a new engine, but it will be expensive to fix if the gasket is blown, which I suspect it is.

when was the last tune up done and fuel filter was changed?
there is no spark plug wires I had to replace the boot for the number one cylinder on a 2000 expedition that was also having the same problem if the check engine light is on take it to auto zone and they will put it on a tester free of charge and I hope and pray that it is not the problem like the one I am working on right now I am replacing the upper and lower intake gaskets

Code PO 420 is a catalytic converter code. Any dealership code reader will also convert it to plain english for the mechanic that read the code. Whatever your warrently, all catalytic converters have a silent warrenty that the dealer is required to honor. They are playing dumb until your warrenty runs out. They know what this issue is. If they don't replace your catalytic converter call a lemon law lawyer.

Depending on what you make consider "it feels like the engine is about to come thru the hood and shakes" it could be the torque converter in the trans to as simple as the motor mounts, So any information you can give in detail would be helpfull
I hope this helps you

Before you start replacing parts and wasting money make sure and get the codes checked. If you just replace a part cause someone told you this could be the problem you can spend a lot of money and not get the problem fixed.Get the codes and then post back and I`ll be glad to help you find the problem. You can get them checked free at most parts stores. They might try to sell you a part for that code.Be patient and post back with the code and I`ll be glad to help.Good luck.
