Question about 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

1 Answer

I have a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country. It requires a "key" or "Star Tool" to get the last lug off to remove the wheel. Where is the tool hidden? It is not in the jack kit or glove compartment. I cannot find it.

No solution but I'm guessing someone has added security lug nuts to keep the wheels from being stolen. My 2005 and 2002 T&C's have aluminum wheels but all the lug nuts are standard.
A tire shop or dealer may be able to help you with a replacement adapter.

I am having difficulty removing fuel pump lock ring in a 2005 town & country, how do i remove it. I rented a tool from auto zone and it is no help at all.

Hi, the only tools I have ever used are a hammer and screwdriver. Hold the screwdriver tangential to the ring on one of the tangs and hit it. It takes quite a few licks, but you eventually get there.

You can remove the hub carrier (bolts are behind the backing plate).

Don't pound on it, you will ruin the non-serviceable bearings. Put the lug thru and put a new lug nut on it. Us an air gun to draw the lug up snug.

I have A 2005 Chrysler town and country with A 3.3 v6. where is my fuel filter

It is part of the fuel sending unit at the top of the fuel tank. It is not a separately serviceable part. If you decide you must replace it, you must get the entire fuel pump module. You would need to remove the fuel tank and it takes a specific special tool to remove the nut/retaining ring holding the unit to the tank.

Hope this helps!

If you have to ask that question then it is not likely that you have the tools to do the job.
If I was you I would seriously consider taking it to a qualified mechanic. I am a mechanic and could probably do the job with very little trouble even though I dont even have the most important tool. Tool number 1. is a good manual for that car. A lift and jack is nice too. Not minding getting very filthy dirty is another good requirement.

I can't find the "key" or "star tool" to remove the wheel

Sounds like a previous owner replaced some of the lug nuts with security type which require a special adapter to fit the lug wrench.
A tire shop or the car dealer might be able to supply the adapter.

These are called Torx bolts/nuts and they are intended to prevent theft, any store like Sears will carry the Torx (also called star) line of sockets, they are also available on line from different tool outlets, Carquest and Napa auto parts should have them too.

On our Mazda3 the special lug removal tool was in the glove box in a blister pack with spare lugs. After having the car serviced the tool dissapeared and after searching I found it in the lug removal vrench where the dealership mechanic left it. Hope this helps. Alex
