Question about Renault SCENIC

Open Question

Have an rx4. Bought with a faulty dephaser sounding like a diesel. Replaced the pulley and the cam belt with renault parts. Now when driving as I got over 2500rpm the engine starts kicking/fighting. I

Had cam and pulley done with a proper mechanic, all the pistons and pulleys match their markings so its not the timing, it idles well, once it revs it doesn't sound right and when in gear it shudders and fights past 2500rpm Mechanic and I are in a fluster. The launch computer shows one error in the air temp sensor but that wasn't touched during the work, only the air intake was removed. What could it be?

  • The PCM doesn't even see the O2 sensor until engine temp has reached operating temp, the vehicle goes from open loop when cold,to closed loop when warm, where the PCM uses the O2 sensor to measure the rich/lean of the exhaust content, and from that, adjust fuel richness to achieve 14.7 to 1 air/fuel ratio. So when cold, the O2 sensor is out of the picture anyways. When unplugging sensors,it can be deceitful. The PCM has a program whereas,if a critical sensor (such as the mass air flow) is somehow damaged and out of the picture, the PCM will substitue a generic value that will allow the engine to stay running. So,by unplugging the MAF,it did try to run on it's own better than plugged in,there's the problem area. The vehicle is running better with the MAF unplugged, because the MAF is likely bad,and the PCM is substituting it's generic value when it IS unplugged.Something to recheckThe PROM update is a newer program for the PCM,and likely won't fix it unless the PCM is bad.I would try a good used PCM as a last or later resort, because i have seen my fair share of defective PCM's too.I have taken some PCM's apart, and found capacitors that had gone bad and leaked all over the circuit board, mostly Honda and Mitsubishi and Chrysler though.Good luck, keep me posted.

SOURCE: Loud squealing sound in my engine

Try removing the belt and turning each pulley by hand. If everything is smooth and free, with the belt still off, drive down the block once and see if the noise is there (this will eliminate all rotating accessories on the front). If you hear the noise, then there is a problem deeper inside. Oil pressure is good? Dont' forget when doing this, you will have no power steering, so be careful.

the computer may need to be reflashed. if it is running then it is not a bad sensor. either of those being bad would cause it not to run.

SOURCE: high rev problem

this problem I find in alot of 3.4 ltre grand-ams and that is the wiring go to the intake air temp sensor is broken at the connector. the wire will look good but in the insulation it will be broken. just give each wire a tug, if the wire pulls out then that is the broken one.

Driving belt change 2010 koleos? I have a diesel fuel Koleos does it need timing belt change around 100,000ks?

the Renault koleos is a Korean made vehicle operation off a base Nissan diesel engine
research shows it as a chain and this is easily confirmed by inspecting the timing cover of the engine
if it is plastic it is a belt but if all aluminium it is a chain
if it is a belt , it will need the belt change at the 10,000 k mark which should include , crank seals , cam shaft seals , idler pulleys and hydraulic tensioner if fitted
the reason for all of the parts is simple
oil destroys belts very quickly and as the seals , idler pulley bearings and adjuster all are worn then they should be replaced as well to give another 100,000k service

How to change a auxiliary belt without using a auto tensioner on renault kangoo 1.9 diesel cars

you have to have serpentine belt tool kit. and do not have to buy one unless you want one, most auto parts have loaner tools you have to have a credit card to secure the cost of replace in case you loose a part or you do not return it, then they charge your credit.

you need that tool to release the tension on the belt, it is not possible to not do without that tool, i tried doing that i tried for 5-6 hours without any luck. i went down to auto store got the tool and we got done in 15 minutes.
take it from me it not worth all that waist of time and energy just get the tool. its fast and simple.

thank you rod

How to fit cam belt to renault megane 1.5 dynamique diesel 2004

not difficult with the right equipment ,firstly you will need a special tool to lock the crankshaft in place ,then another special tool than aligns the tdc this goes through the cylinder block at the front right hand side by taking a bolt out in the block thats just in front of the bell housing .The special tools cost an arm and a leg trust me and then the pulley bolt has to be pulled up to 130lbs ,the bottom pulley does not have a keyway so without the right tools its very easy to let the engine turn and clout the valves which breaks the camshaft bearing caps with relative ease .the kit you need can be bought and its kit number AST4390 plus the locking pieces for the flywheel .This is not a weekend mechanic type job ,yes its easy with the right tools but even myself will slacken tensioner and remove the cam before i start so valves cannot catch when i turn engine over on starter with a big bar on the pulley nut ,then change the belt then with assistant holding a snap on heel bar in the flywheel ring gear whilst i hammer the bottom pulley bolt with the air wrench ,then use the 80cm knuckle bar and have a good grunch to make sure its really tight or it WILL TURN and the valves hit and break and imbed themselves in the pistons and smash the cam bearing caps .This is not a job for the faint hearted ,their is a timing mark on the flywheel looking from the top through a elongated hole and TDC is a longer tooth ,the inspection slot is about 3cms down from the crank sensor

Renault megane scenic RX4 climate control fan has failed

the vehicle is old enough that the fan blower motor sounds like it is in need of replacing. when you hit the dash it causes the brushes in the motor to contact enough to start the electrical connection, it may stop when it gets hot, or is turned off. the ticking sound is more than likely the bearings wore in the motor enough to cause the cage fan to touch the housing enough to cause the sound.
