if it is spinning over as if there is no compression ( really fast) then remove the plugs and squirt oil in the chambers as you turn the crankshaft. This will seal the rotor seals and give compression.
replace the fuel as it may be stale. fill the float bowl by pouring fuel into the balance pipe in the throat of the carby (When the air filter is off you will see a pipe in the middle of the carby throat point up-- balance tube). Check that the fuel pump is operational.
Change the gas filter. If car sat for 2 years without being started, the gas could be stale Put fuel system cleaner in gas tank. The car may need a double dose.
remove the fuel line at the filter and have someone turn on the key. If you have fuel flow then you have fuel pump working. . To check spark remove spark plugs and earth them out and see if they spark when cranking the engine. The gas will be stale and will give you problems as well so I would fill/ refill the tank. Next I would have the fault codes read to see if the injectors are getting a signal
Dead battery and bad gas, should start but will have bad gas smell, after you got it running add gas and fuel additive, change all fluid, check belt's and hoses. also have brakes checked.Hope this was helpful.
check the spark plugs and the fuel filter. also the intensity of the spark at the gap of the plugs. the spark should be bluish and you can hear a ticking sound. you can locate the fuel filter between the tank and the carburator, usually in the engine compartment.
If it is a 1980 Caddy it either has a carburetor or throttle-body fuel injection( V864, if it's fuel injected you might need a new fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator ) and you can remove the aircleaner lid and pour a little gas down the carb (hold the choke plate open with a screw driver placed between choke plate and carb air horn) or throttle-body. It might take a few tries before the fuel pump fills the float bowl up on the carb for it to keep running. If the cars has really old stale gas in the tank you might need to drain it and refill with fresh gas. Change the fuel filter and add a can of fuel injector-carb cleaner to the gas tank.
