Question about 2000 Dodge Stratus

1 Answer

Heat Hello I have a 2000 dodge Stratus. One of the problems i have at the moment is the heat. 1. it only works on high it used to blow out heat but 2. Heat no longer comes out. The the thingy that turns hot to cold still works cuz when I turn it to cold its a hole lot colder and there is a more flow. Friend had me pick up a thermostat. But would that also explain the blower only working on high? What is my problem?

Sounds like the air "blend" door might be inoperable. This door opens and closes a specified amount to regulate the amount of either cooled or heated air, as requested by the climate control unit. If the door is continually in the position which is bypassing the heater core (cold setting), the air will not get warm regardless of the condition/operation of the heater core. I'd suggest having this component checked.

It is most likely a closed or mostly closed thermostat, cheap fix and very common.

Check the coolant level. If its low you wont get any heat. If its full then I would suspect that the temp. selector on the climate control is faulty. Farley easy to replace. Your local you pull parts yard will have one for $20-$35.

I have a 2000 dodge stratus. the heat/ac blower was only working on high. i replaced the resistor and that solved the problem for a very short time and now only works on high again. what would cause the...

Thermal fuse, mike (from above) was correct. I did as instructed, and now my ac works on any level. And it actually feels alittle cooler. All you do is go to radio shack and get a thermal fuse, mine was 435 degress f,236 celcius. It cost a total of $1.94. i removed the cover below my glove box, unscrewed the blower resistor, removed the old fuse with a drill bit (it was soldered), and soldered the new one on and reverse the steps on putting it back together. it worked!

The heater in my 2004 dodge stratus doesn't blow out hot air while idling, but it does when driving. Could this be the thermostat?

Most of the time this (no heat at idle/heat when driving) is an indication of low radiator fluid. Check the fluid level while the engine is cold and on with the heater on high.

Fan not blowing heat out

I have a 2001 Dodge Stratus.... the same exact thing happen to me. First it only worked on high #4 and then it stopped all together. I just fixed it today. It is the BLOWER MOTOR RESITOR. I actually changed it myself. It is inside the car under the glove box. There is a little cover you can take off. You will need a tool to take off the 2 screws once the cover is off. And then unplug the old one and install the new one. Really easy. The RESISTOR will cost you about 40 bucks.

Heat problems

There is a valve located on one of the heater hoses that when you select heat moves to allow heated water to flow through the heater core. Yours is probably just stuck, with heat selected on the dash try to move valve by hand.
