Sounds like you have a capacitor problem. It could be a number of issues , but i suggest you check the alternator one first.

If you unplug the power cable to the back of the alternator and the whining goes away then replace the capacitor(usually only one bolt/screw)and you should be OK.

If not I sometimes have dissconnected the + wire from the HT coil when the car is running and the same applies, and if this works replace the capacitor or fit one if there isn't.

If none of this helps fit one to the + wires of your radio.

Please leave fair comment if I have helped you.

Thank you

O2 sensors wiring diagrams

Locate the wires running off from the O2 sensor. There should be two. The black wire is the ground wire. The other wire, which may vary in color, supplies power to the sensor.

  • 2 Connect the power lead to the corresponding connector on the chassis's wiring harness.
  • 3 Connect the black, or ground, lead to the corresponding connector on the factory wiring harness.
  • 3 wires, "how do i wire it" are simply explained. all universal 3 wire o2 sensors will have 2 wires one color, the other wire a different color. the 2 that are the same color are ground and power for the heater and it doens't matter which one is which. so ground to the motor, power from the gray wire on the fuel pump, or anywhere you want to pull 12 volts while the car is running. i have a dedicated fan relay that doesn't use the ecm and runs off the key, so thats where i went. the different color wire goes to the stock sensor wire, it's the signal.

Need help with installation of passenger side o2 sensor. I cannot get old sensor out and then of course new one in due to firewall. Any thoughts?

You can try this, first soak the base of the O2 sensor with WD-40 or some penetrating oil, and since you do not need the old O2 sensor, cut the wire connector off of the end and slip a 7/8" box end wrench onto the O2 sensor, and do be sure to use the box end of the wrench to loosen the O2 sensor and it should come loose.

Install the new O2 sensor with the open end of the 7/8" wrench, and do not over-tighten the O2 sensor.

    O2 sensor

Follow your exhaust pipe/pipes leaving the engine in a rearward direction and the O2 sensor will be just before the catylitic converter sticking uup with a dual or triple wire harness. Possibly it may have only one wire, there are several configurations. It is removed by turning it counterclockwise. Reverse to install. Thank you, Dana
