Where is the fuse for Ford F150 FX4 4 wheel drive high

4 wheel drive high and low will ight but high will not engage (2006)

SOURCE: Ford F150 front tires won't engage in 4 wheel drive

look on fire wall pass. side you will see 2 parts with vacume lines attached 99 percent of the time that is what went i had the same problem

Could be a problem with the vac lines to the IWE ( Integrated Wheel Ends ), or a problem with the IWE solenoid, or a problem with the vent from the IWE.

Start with checking the vac lines, to make sure they are not cracked.
The vac res & IWE solenoid are behind the battery. Here is a diagram of the parts in the IWE vac system

There was a TSB for the 2004-2006 MYs with a bad design IWE solenoid, but this usually was coupled with noise in 2WD.
Start with checking the VAC lines and the vent, next would be to check the IWE solenoid.

Operationally vacuum holds the IWE ( Integrated Wheel Ends ) out, and once vac is removed the spring engages the IWE.

Lift and support the front of the truck so the front wheels are off the ground ( take safety precautions, chock wheels, jack stands, etc )
Key on, engage 4x4 and try to turn the front drive shaft.
If it turns it is a problem with the transfer case.
If it doesn't it is a front axle engagement problem.

- If the front drive shaft does not turn :
Shut of the truck ( still jacked up, and supported ) remove the vac lines from the IWE. The spring should push the gears in, without the vac line on.
Check the vent line ( tube that is routed into the engine compartment with nothing attached to it ), for blockages.
If the vent line is clear, and with the vac lines off the IWE should be engaged ( both front wheels locked ).
If they lock, the problem is with the IWE solenoid not shutting off vacuum to the IWEs. There is a TSB on the 2004-2006 IWE solenoids, a newer revision has been made, and used from 2007 and newer MYs.

Start with testing to see if the front drive shaft turns while in 4WD to know which way do go with the repairs, the usual route is the IWE vacuum system ( lines or solenoids ), but I have seen shift motors be a problem also.
If you find a vacuum problem, you can remove and plug the vacuum lines at the IWE, and leave the front hubs locked in all the time, until you can diagnoses where the issue is at.
Just don't try racing anyone or expecting stellar acceleration , pushing a dead axle is going to consume some HP.

Your DII is (always) in 4 wheel drive. There is NO 2x wheel drive option on a DII, it's always in 4x4 high, or low. To select 4-wheel drive low, put your transmission in neutral and pull down the high low gear selector.

it sounds like the front differential is not engaging, check the solenoid on front diff.

same fuse, you need to put truck in nutral and let it roll to engage four low. if this doesn't work your shift motor is tired.

there is a max speed limit to engage and use 4 wheel low. try to engage while rolling 5mph and do not exceed 20mph in this "power" gear. also make sure the all drive components are well greased. lack of grease throws off drive alignment and may not easily engage.

It could be the button is bad. but be sure the vehicle is stopped completely or it won't go in. Check all fuses.
