SOURCE: transmission will shift, but car won't move.
there is a linkage inside the transmission that came off or lose so you might have to take it to a mechanic to get in there and repair so do not start car no more and you might have to have the car towed to a mechanic to look at it.

do u hav the rite fluid and level--make sure wires are connected rite--is the tv valve on the throttle ajusted--was it a used trans-if so a mess of other issues--get a repair manual or hav a pro drive it

This is the speed in and speed out sensors on the transmission. I just had the same problem. The sensors are about 25 dollars and are easy to replace

Fourth gear in your vehicle doesn't exist. What feels like a fourth gear is the torque converter locking up. The lockup lockup is controlled by a solenoid in the side pan of the transmission, and the solenoid is controlled by the ECM (electronic control module) in response to several pressure, temperature and speed sensors etc. To determine which component is the problem you'll need a professional transmission mechanic with the proper diagnostic equipment.

car not changing gears and not shifting out of park mode ,it can be shifter assembly issue, or it can also be
transmission issue. Get the shifter assembly inspected with ignition OFF.
