Question about 1996 Volkswagen Golf
Is there a reset for the fuel pump on a 96 golf
Think their is but dont quote me ,it should be under the bonnet with a red plastic top about an inch square

Did you test to see if their was voltage available to the old pump? Sounds like you have an open wire from the voltage source to the fuse. I am guessing that the old pump was not the problem. You may bypass that by running a new wire of the proper size(same as the one there now)from the side of the switch that has 12 volts when you turn on the key to the fuse holder. The other side of the fuse holder to the pump, of course.
