Light just comes why seems to run fine

You did not give any information about the model of vehicle or what light came on but i suggest that you check your oil level, coolant level, brake fluid level and also make sure the gas cap is tight.Other than that,if the check engine light has come on then you need to get the codes read, with an obd2 reader unless it is pre 1996,then you will need a dealer to look at it.

Check engine light is on, but the car seems to be

The purpose of the check engine light is to inform the driver that the car's ECM has registered a problem. It then stores a code in it's memory that can then be "pulled" by a hand held diagnostic trouble code reader and usually the issue an be corrected. More times than not, the car will seem to be running fine even with the light on because the ECM will compensate for the problem as much as it can to keep the system functioning. One thing you can do is remove the gas cap and put it back on making sure that you securely tighten it until you hear 3 clicks. After driving the car for 30-50 miles, the light may go out. If it does then the gas cap was not tightened completely causing air to enter the system (the system utilizes vacuum so it must be sealed air tight). If the light stays on, take it to a Dealer or trusted mechanic for further inspection. ALWAYS BE SURE YOUR GAS CAP IS TIGHTLY SECURED AFTER EVERY FILL UP OR THE LIGHT WILL COME ON AGAIN>

The check engine light came on, and now stays on, in my 03 tacoma, the truck seems to run fine, no hesitation or roughness noticed. Any ideas where or what to look for?

autozone has a fre check they they can run on your car. They will givbe you a code, that code will then tell us what is throwing that check engine light.

Left me know what u find out so i can help more

Can I download an owners manual for a 2006 VW Jetta somewhere? I have a light on that looks like an engine, but the car seems to run fine.

owners manuals are available at dealer only . manual would not tell you why light is on . will have to plug scanner in to car to tell what is wrong .

An orange light came on that looks like a picture of an engine

That is the check engine light, the internal computer has detected a malfunction in a system. could be just a quick fault and nothing is wrong, the light just need to be reset. Take it to pep boys or advance auto parts, they usually let you use a codescanner for free, which will reset the light. if the light returns, see your dealer for further diagnostics!

please rate the solution!

Jaguar x-type (2001 2.5 petrol) Engine Light on

I have had this problem on and off with my '02 X-type. I have taken it to a place where they will read and interpret the error codes for free. Every time it came back with a evap leak code. We had the dealer look the entire car over twice, but they could not find anything wrong. So we asked him if we should be worried. His response: "Nothing to worry about as long as the engine does not cut out or does into "limp home" mode." What it comes down to is that some of the sensors on this car are a little too sensitive. Even something as simple as hitting a bump can cause this code to pop up. There seem to be several possible solutions:

1: replace gas tank cap
2: replace air filter located behind the golve compartment
3: Open the hood. Remove the plastic cover from the engine block. There will be several hoses running between the engine block and the plastic over you just removed. Check those for leaks. (They get hot from being so close to the engine block and the rubber gets brittle).
4: Have the fuel nozzles cleaned/replaced
5: Clean out the air intake

Essentially I have not done any of this because my engine is running lean (meaning it is using less gas than it should). Seeing as though it is running fine, I can't see paying what the dealer wants per hour to look for something they have looked for twice already and didn't find.

I'd say try any of the above, but I cannot guarantee a solution. I'm sorry.
