Ur coolant level sensor might need changing. If not, the circuit associated with the coolant level sensor needs to be inspected

SOURCE: 2006 Monte Carlo

Here's how to override the shift lock on a 2006 Monte Carlo. First, remove the top of the shift console by pulling up on the plastic piece directly in front of the hinged cover. This is the piece that has the cup holders molded into it and it is held in place by 4 clips (i.e. it will pop back into place with no tools).

Next, shine a flashlight down into the console to the right of where the shift lever passes through (passenger's side). You'll see a wiring clip with 4 or 5 wires going into it. Directly behind this clip you can see a metal shaft with a flared top that looks like a button. This is the shift lock override button. Reach in behind the wiring clip with your right hand and press this button in. With the engine running, hold the button in with your right hand, press on the brake, and shift out of park with your left hand.

Now you can drive the car to your mechanic (or to your own garage) to find out why the shift lock solenoid is not working. On mine it was obvious. A wire going into that clip near the override button came loose and there was no power to the shift lock solenoid. I removed the clip, reattached the wire, and replaced the clip. Problem solved, fixed for free!

SOURCE: belt diagram for a 2006 chevy monte carlo

There should be a decal on the bottom side of your hood, or somewhere in the engine compartment. If there isn't just put it on the crankshaft (bottom pulley) and go ribs to ribs, and flats to flats, and work your way around.

Why does the heater in my 2005 chevy monte carlo only blow cold air?

Try this...I found it on the web.

The cooling system in these cars must be bled. That is all the air removed after the cooling system is serviced. Set the heating controls to full heat & open the bleeder screw, which is probably located at or near the thermostat housing until coolant flows smoothly out. Leave the screw open for an additional 10 seconds & you should be all set

Where does the coolant temp sensor go in the 2006 chevy monte carlo

It should be located just below the thermostat housing. Look on the engine where the top radiator hose mounts connects. From the front of the car, look towards the driver's side about two inches below the thermostat. You should see a wiring harness going from the sensor to the exhaust manifold.

Where is ect sensor located on 2006 monte carlo 3.5 engine

The ECT (Engine Coolant Temp sensor) should be located by the coolant thermostat housing or where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine. It screws in with a plug or small/short wire harness attached to it. -------------------------------- To replace ect sensor:---
  1. Drain and recycle the engine coolant.
  2. Remove the intake manifold cover, if necessary.
  3. Remove the exhaust crossover.
  4. Disconnect the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector.
  5. Remove the ECT sensor.

After replacing the water pump how much coolant to water should i add

it will usally take 1-2 gallons of coolan. th best way to fill it up is by removing the bleader screw/s and filling the system cold. after coolant comes out of the bleeders put them back on and start the car till the t-stat is opened and double check the level once the engine has cooled down.

How do I bleed the air out of the coolant on a 2000 Monte Carlo LS 3.4L?

Look for a bleeder screw at the highest point of the coolant system, it is usually located on the thermostat housing. Once located open screw with engine off and cool, and pour coolant into the coolant resevoir/ radiator until steady stream of coolant starts to come out of bleeder screw.
