SOURCE: Passenger Taillight always burning out

I own a 97 LS as well and I was going through passenger taillight bulbs too. I found that the water that drained in the channel around the trunk was deteriorating the connectors on the taillight. I replaced the circuit board (black plastic piece you plug the lights into) and also used a can of Electical Connector Cleaner on both the plug to the circuit board and the socket the lights plug into. Lights have lasted now 5 months without burning out.

SOURCE: The serpentine belt broke replaced it and i broke

I had this problem, it turned out that A/C compressor had seized and wouldn't turn, because the compressor was stuck it would rip up the new belt- so you can one of two things;

replace the compressor and belt

or
get a shorter serpentine belt and bypass the A/C compressor- there are several sites that show you how to route this.- i did this being a college student, not having A/C isn't that bad

Hi i have a 07 civic and my a/c fan fuse not relay keeps burning everytime I replaced it with a new one but the fan works

Try spinning the fan by hand, it should turn very easy.
Too much resistance cause heat and the fuse to burn out.
If not, try wd40 on the shaft or replace the fan.
It is old??

Replaced the serpentine belt but now car won't start

A serpentine belt almost never breaks unless one thing happens---one of the accessories seizes and won't turn.Remove the belt and see which pulley won't turn. The serpentine belt is strong enough to keep the engine from cranking up(better grip on the pulleys compared to the old V-belts).I actually remember a tech 3 stalls down from me sell a customer an engine, only to find the alternator was just seized.(embarassing!)Any one accessory bearing will keep it from cranking up,and I'm sure you'll find it quickly after removing the belt.

I have a 2002 taurus se and the fan belt broke, i replaced it and it broke again, i smell a foul odor coming from the vents

Check for a seized pulley

With the belt removed turn each pulley by hand, they should all move smoothly without barely noticeable play. I suspect that you may find the idler pulley is either locked in position or locks up occasionally. When turning the pulleys try putting some up or down pressure on them.

The smell you are detecting is most likely the smell of the burned belt. They do tend to give off a smell that keep on giving long after the bet is gone.

Installed a new timing belt. Old timing belt broke

not timed right. You have to remove the plug, and insert a straw through the spark plug hole so that you can see when the piston is all the way up

Loss of power on acceleration with my 2004 trailblazer

Hi,

I had a similar problem. It was my waterpump. I got lucky and was close to dealersip, so no major damage. Before it failed (about three months before) I noticed the decline in acceleration, dealership missed diagnosing the problem twice. They finally figured it out, when it failed and started clunking in the truck. Was an expensive fix but not as bad as destroying the motor.

Get the water pump checked asap. they changed an air line valve connector thing first which did not fix the problem.

Also, I had a fan belt changed just before the water pump failed. The new fan belt put too much pressure on the failing water pump, causing it to crash and burn about one week after the belt change.

Hope this helps you.

I HAD A NEW ALTERNATOR PUT IN MY 1999 FORD ESCORT 4/08/09 THEN ON 5/05/09 THE ALTERNATOR BELT BROKE I HAD IT REPLACED NOW MY CAR WILL NOT START.

its a small possibility but i seen remanufactured alternators that have too much drag on the motor( resistance) so the engine cant turn it has to be a really crappy alternator..but why did the belt brake??? was it old or did it squeel ... is the ac turning easy start taking off belts and turning components by hand feel how they rotate!!!
