I have a 1994 honda civic I have over heating problems the radiator,temperature sensor have been replaced it runs fine for a week or two and the problem starts all over

Are you sure is your temp sensor have you check the thermostat or the cooling fan if they are working properly? Most of the honda civic has problem with the fan relay or maybe you water pump that is going bad

Try pounding on the gas tank with a rubber mallet or similar tool. (careful not to dent the tank) Try starting it. If it runs, replace the fuel pump (it's nfg). I've diagnosed numerous fuel pumps this way. Remember the pump needs to be replaced, if you drive it, you don't know when it'll fail for good. Hope this helps. Please post the results.

I do not know the history of your 94 civic as far as mileage, how well the car has been maintained or not maintained. Could be a block within one of your heater hoses, the valve that open and closes to allow the radiator fluid through your heater core to recirculate the water, or a block within your heater core from rust deposits and or lack of servicing your radiator fluid could cause a build-up of deposits. You might have an air lock within your cooling system" air pockets". Perhaps you can purge your coolant system to allow any air bubbles or pockets that may have entered the cooling system when adding coolant, replacing a radiator, or simply servicing the coolant system. Make sure you have the proper radiator cap to produce the proper amount of pressure with your cooling system. Check for any fluid leaks in your cooling system as well. This may allow air into your cooling sytem.

Bearings are pressed into the hubs...much easier, faster and economical (if you don't have a press) to replace the complete bearing/hub assembly, no pressing is needed, since bearings are already pressed into the new hubs. Cost..aprox, 60 buxs each.
Here are the steps for the rear replacement...
Loosen the lug nuts on a rear wheel. 2) Chock the wheels and jack the rear of the car on the side with the lug nuts that you just loosened. 3) Remove the wheel by removing the lug nuts. 4) Pry open the dust cap covering the center of the axle/spindle. A small screwdriver tapped into the space between the hub and dust cap will work well for this. 5) With the dust cap now removed, use a thin center punch to straighten the little dent in the rim of the spindle nut so that you will be able to turn it freely in the next step. 6) Use a 32mm socket and a large breaker-bar to loosen the spindle nut. Unscrew the nut all the way and place it in a clean, safe area. 7) You should now be able to slide the hub/bearing assembly from the shaft. 8) Installation is the reverse of removal. Use plenty of high-temperature wheel bearing grease on all surfaces before you mount the replacement hub assembly.

IMPORTANT: Torque the spindle nut to 134 ft/lbs....(per manual specs)

When reinstalling the dust caps, tap them gently into place to avoid denting them...Install wheels, jack her down and pat yourself on the back...job complete.

Typical issue with the 92'-95' Civic. Thermostat is one possibility, yes. Another is that it overheated due to the thermostat or the fact that they have a very small radiator which tends to corrode and become increasingly less efficient, in time causing it to everheat and eventually cracking lengthwise away from the radiator cap along the (plastic) top of the radiator due to steam pressure on the inside of the rad. Inspect the fins on the radiator to ensure they are not turning green and corroding away, this will make a marked difference in your colling capability.

1st u have to replace condenser fan and radiator assy , it will solve your problem , cause due to no coolant radiator fan is not working and cause of engine overheating a/c system got trip . replace both condenser fan and radiator and put new coolant. thanks.

sounds like a bad head gasket. Check the oil and look for foam to tell if antifreeze is getting into engine block.

Speedometer does not indicate speed during cold weather.


You have a speed sensor on the transmission casing. Look in the front part of the engine bay down on top of the casing. It should be a little to the left between the radiator and the engine and has a wire plugged into it. It's pretty small and is very easy to replace.

Radiator fan on my 1994 toyota camry


there are actually 3 temp sensors. 1 is on the top of the engine that goes to temp gauge in dash has 1 wire. next to it is a 3 wire sensor for engine control and choke. on the bottom of the radiator next to the hose is a 2 wire sensor. loosen all 3 but leave connected. get engine hot past halfway point on dash gauge. with ac off disconnect 1 sensor at time. start with 2 wire under radiator. it takes the most abuse. fan will come on when you disconnect broken sensor. 2sensor must agree for fan to stay on till engine cools when turned off. note this is solution i used after verifying fuses, fuseable links and relays worked.WOO HOO! make sure you check both the fuse box under hood and fuse boxleft side of steering wheel my ECU fuse was inside my bros was outside.ECU B on my car goes to nothing and is under hood. Had it confused with ECU on wiring diagram.DOH!

The idle problem kinda sounds like the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve on the intake manifold. Another idea is maybe coolant temp. sensor. And if it's leakings coolant still after replacing all those parts then i would say maybe the water pump is leaking since i believe on those motors its by the timing belt which is behind the plastic cover on the motor so maybe that's why you're not seeing fluid so much because it's in there. Hope some of this helpes, good luck.

2003 honda civic over heating


Solve? Although I clicked the link to solve the problem, I have no answers but am tempted to go after honda.

Same problems still occuring on my 2003 honda civic (103,000)!

I have:

-Changed thermostat's twice (180 degree; Yes, it is correctly positoned with the jiggle tab to the top and the correct side facing the engine)
-Installed new water pump
-Checked coolant level
-Changed the timing belt
-Checked for head gasket symptoms (white exhaust, corrosion in cylinders/plugs, loss of fluid, checked cylinder compression (all check out)
-Had the entire system presure tested 3 times with no visible leaks
-Run the car for 45 minutes with no visible drips/leaks
-proped the front of the car up to get air out of the system

This weekend I had spare time on my hands so I replaced the thermostat (checked the other, which according to bioling water at 180 worked as designed) I flushed the entire system, took out the radiator and had it blown out, flushed the entire system, installed new upper and lower hoses, checked the fan switch, I will be replacing the coolant with new, installing a new radiator (since they cost only 100 online and I have the hole front end off anyway, I'll be reinstalling the fans and switches, and trying it out again.

I drive about 100-450 miles between overheating, but it is very sporadic.

Still have the same heater issues- cold air when stopped and not accelerating at times. I am tempted to check the heater core next- but there is no loss of fluid from that ethier?

When I get the system back together, I'll try running the car for a few weeks without the heat on to see if that corrects the problem.

All of the steps to repairing the cooling system seem easy and cost 1/10 of getting them checked at a shop if you have the time!

I'll update again next week!
