SOURCE: Dodge 2000 minivan, water pump leaking

Make sure it's cool, pop the radiator cap, Remove the shield on the passenger side between the tire and front of engine. Relieve the tension on the serp belt, draw yourself a diagram of the pulleys and belt routing in case the sticker is gone on the strut tower, remove the serp belt. Take the bolts out of the pulley on the front of the water pump (3). Remove the lower radiator hose at the front cover to drain the coolant. Remove the 6 mm bolts holding the water pump to the front cover housing. tap on the pump with a rubber hammer. Install a new gasket on the new pump, and a weap hole diverter in the pump (round black about hte size of a quarter), use old one if there's no new one. Install pupm and tighten bolts snug with a 1/4" ratchet. Install pulley and 3 bolts. Install belt, top off radiator with 50/50 mix green coolant. start engine and run to operating temperature, make sure the belt is seated in all of the pulleys and is running true, radiator fans should come on. Shut engine down and let cool overnight. Check level in radiator and overflow bottle, top off as necessary.

Changed water pump, thermostat, top rad. hose. still leaking leaking antifreeze from what looks like below thermostat housing. have noticed super small hose from water pump to engine. looks hard to replace....

That is called the bypass hose. It could be leaking but I'd take a closer look at the thermostat housing. If you replaced only the thermostat and not the housing, the housing may be leaking. It's a common source of coolant leaks.

Water leaking into passenger compartment in a 2000 dodge caravan , i think it is the drain tube from the windshield drain.

If you are having problems with the water in the passenger side of van during the dry weather days then it's the drain pan on the evaporator housing. It is located in behind the blower motor. The drain tube for the evaporator is on the passanger side of van next to the fire wall (black tube ) hanging downword. Use a tie strap to insert into the tube to clean it out. Hope this will help you.

I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500, my antifreeze keeps leaking but i don't think it is coming from the radiator, my buddy is telling me he thinks its the water pump what do u think

it could be anything, this is certainly not a problem that can be diagnoses over the internet. i would start by performing a pressure test, that should make any external leaks evident. that being said, water pumps are typically a more common failure then a radiator. good luck!

This is where your water pump is located. It has a drain hole in the bottom of the housing and lets you know when the seal is out of the water pump, usually caused by the bearings worn out. Time to change the water pump.

Smell antifreeze, no leaks, gurgleing behind drivers side dash.

there is air in system causing gurgling/set heater to defrost and check for sweet smell. do while stopped if core is leaking windshield will fog up and be hard to clear.

don't know about the heater issue but the thermostat is on the front left corner (when looking at the car) behind the altenator, we had to take off the tire, the wheel well plastic, the altenator and then we could remove the thermostat, now my heater doesn't work but the temperature gage does. My husband is replacing the water pump now.
