SOURCE: when driving if you hit

I had a similer experience with my e430. When it went to the dealer he said one of the front coils had broken. He fixed a new one (plus a new one on the other side so they are both the same strength) and the problem disappeared. Cost a lot, but it may be the answer.

SOURCE: Clonking Noise

If you take into account that both links are of the same age. It is not uncommon for the other side to fail. Personally, I install links in pairs to prevent such a problem. Most components that have a right and left side usually wear out or break around same time, because they have the same # of km's on them. Brakes pads and shoes are sold in pairs for this reason. I don't know why more auto parts are not sold in pairs for this reason. I don't feel the garage did anything wrong, other than trying to save you some money by only doing the side that was broken.

Hope this helped you out.

Mike

See if you can get the codes read, your model often has a particulate filter and all that entails but not allways on the 2,0 HDi, it seems too much of a coincidence to not be connected.

SOURCE: how do you change anti roll bar bushes on an audi

I just loosen the bolts of the subframe and use a bar to pull it down abit , while my lad changes the bush, or you could pull it down a bit and block it with a bit of wood, so you can change the bush safely.

check the drop links and anti roll bar rubbers, drop links connect from the suspension and connect to the roll bar, any play in these parts makes corning difficult. second thing is weak shocks.

How to replace front anti roll bar bushes

Frank, you haven't said what make or model your car is.
However, have a look on the following link - it will take you to Youtube:
how to replace anti roll bar bushes Google Search

It's not a particularly difficult job. It entails loosening the drop-links/tie bars that connect to the torsion bar - the anti roll bar, then loosening the bolts holding the anti roll bar in place.

Just be aware that the anti roll bar is in effect a 'spring' and is under tension. Loosen the retaining bolts gradually, slowly.

replacing the bushes is straight forward. Once you have removed the anti roll bar just lever the old rubber bushes out with a screwdriver and push the new ones into place .. then reassemble everything.

In the most general of terms you would do the job in a couple of hours

Done anti rool bar bushings and still knocking noise

Knock noise must be coming from something else, such as bad shock/strut, ball joint, etc. Put car up on stands and have helper turn steering while looking for loose part. Find nothing? Put jack or long bar under wheel and move wheel up and down to locate what is loose.

Check the drop link and sway bar (anti roll bar) bushes also the knock could be in the strut top or the strut itself, maybe disconnect the drop link to the sway bar and drive over a pothole and see if the knock is still there.

My v 4motion creaks whenever it go over anything.

Definitely get the anti roll bar bushes seen to, its such a front heavy car. The sleeves are plastic and crack away, leaving metal on metal. Also the wishbone bushes dry out and will need replacing(most likely source of the creaking). Probably a 2-3 hour job for a decent mechanic, plus parts, you would have to get a price as it is so variable, but I remember buying anti roll bar bushes and drop links from a dealer for less than £50 all in.
