SOURCE: leak

I was advised that i could pay $135+to take apart dash and find source of leak.I figured it out after it snows or rains real-hard then a gusher would happen when i stopped or started car. The solution is simple lift the hood ,and on the passengers side there is a retangular rubber plug that slowly releases water from the wiper reservior. it is above the exhaust manifold. be careful when you remove it because the vapor from the exhaust may steam-burn your hand.the dealer speculated it was a blocked air-conditoner drainage tube.but i removed it and leaves from the wiper resv. came pouring out. this cost me ZERO DOLLARS AND ZERO CENTS. we have had 2 major storms with no leaks....Texas Stang

SOURCE: Oil leak around #1 spark plug of 2002 Ford Escape

Sounds like valve cover gasket is leaking. It leaks down side of engine onto everything in it's path. Stop by a local parts store and have them take a peak, they'll be glad to help you out.

Changed spark plugs on a 2004 mazda found oil in the pistons #4#3#2#1 was no oil in it

You didn't find oil in the pistons, you found oil in the spark plug tubes. This is fairly common on older engines. Over time the seals in the valve cover begin to leak around the spark plug tubes. Oil then works it's way into the tube and settles in the bottom.

There is an easy fix. Simply replace the valve cover gasket.

Oil in my spark plug port

There are oil seals at the bottom of the plug hole in the rocker cover. IT might need replacing and you may not have tensioned the plug correctly

Low compression on one side, one fowled plug

A compression leak down test would tell you where the compression leak is coming from, and you should call around to find a repair shop that knows what a compression leak down test is.

A burnt or bent intake or exhaust valve, warped cylinder head or faulty head gasket, or a damaged piston or piston compression ring could cause a compression leak, and a leaking intake manifold gasket that allows oil to enter the intake through the lifter valley could foul out a spark plug, and also it could be a damaged piston or broken piston rings that is fouling out the spark plug.

Changed the spark plugs and the old ones were covered in oil

i'm guessing that your car is a 4-cylinder. this is common for inline 4-cylinder engines. since the spark plug holes usually go through the valve cover, the valve cover gasket will leak and collect in the spark plug holes. to fix this you will have to replace the valve cover gasket.

Have your cam seals checked. Cam seals are a big problem on these cars and a major source of oil leaks. Another source is the oil cooler gasket but that doesn't appear to be the issue here as your leaks are well above the oil cooler. Good Luck.

2001 jaguar s-type 4.0 oil in spark plug area

Hi bravo956
i also have the same problem regarding the oil leak. this is due to the spark plug gasket leaking and you will need to replace them. they are circular gaskets about 1.5 inches across that fit to the underside of the rocker covers and prevent oil from seeping down the long spark plug hole. when i investigated my leak i assumed it was just the rocker cover gasket that was leaking but once everything was removed it is obvious.
