Question about 1999 Land Rover Range Rover

Open Question

My range rover 1999 model indicates that the "gearbox over heat "

It also asks me to refer to hand book. The problem is that I lost my handbook. This light comes on frequently these past 2 weeks. I took to the garage and they told me nothing was wrong with my car.

The second problem is that someome store my original shattle(CD)catradge. The local dealers would like me to replace the whole system which is ridiculously expensive.

SOURCE: gearbox overheated refer to handbook?

Transmission fluid has become too hot. Check the transmission fluid level (dip stick on passenger side near firewall), then check the transmission cooler, cooling pipes and fittings for leaks or breaks. For other possibilities check www.rangerovers.net .

What does up to 99MY mean?

Most often seen in, or in reference to a shop manual. This term simply means: :inclusive of all manufactured prior to and in 1999 model year. This term is often in the description of parts of manual volumes. If seeing this in reference to parts or trying to find out what will and won't fit on your particular Landy, always use your vin number. Land rover has in the past made significant changes within the assembly line run of a given model year. Using the VIN/ vehicle identification number when ordering parts, accessories, or paint is the only way to be certain of proper fit/match.

Cold air comming from driver's side w/heat on...heat comming from pass side

Hi,
This happened to my P38 also.
Turned out that one of the blend motors was goosed. Got a replacement which is quite a bugger to fit as most of the dash has got to come out. I done this myself as garages can charge up to 10 hours labour for this!
If you have an LCD Display for your hevac you will see a picture of a book on the display. This indicates a fault of which the duff blend motor is just one of many faults that can and do occur in the P38.
If you do buy a new (second hand) motor be aware that there are different ones for either mixing the air or changing the direction of the air flow.
Hope this is of some help.
Iain
