SOURCE: 95 ford probe se auto.

Automatics on some Ford Probes are prone to failure under certain circumstances. I say this because I own a 1994 Ford Probe GT auto. Have had it since 1996. It is now my winter car only. AWESOME in the snow and ice btw, but only with good tires. Get Yokohama Ice Guards!
I have twice had the transmission fail. It would start out as a slipping between 3rd and 4th/overdrive, and would do this for 3-4 weeks before complete failure would occur, after which I then would be limited to 1st and 2nd gears permanently until repaired. And both times, it was brought on by cold weather. Something about extreme cold seems to cause these auto trannys to stick, or fail.... The first time I had I repaired, the cost was $2500 but I had a 3rd party warranty.

I also know that there have been problems with inefficient transmission oil coolers on these cars, causing premature overheating of the transmission fluid. Some Probe owners installed aftermarket oil coolers as an additional or replacement cooler.

Is your transmission model the 4EAT? If so, it's probably on its way to 3rd & 4th failure.

95 aerostar shifts in and out of overdrive starting at 55 mph. just changed fluid and filter. Now it acually seems to be doing it worse,

Check for a vacuum diaphragm shielded by a metal plate on the passenger side of your ******.Probably you don't have one.Mine is a 1993 and it does have one.Replace it if you do find one,and DON'T let the actuator rod fall into ******.
In the case there's no vacuum modulator, buy 2 cans of `sea-foam' TRANSMISSION treatment (Auto-Zone or Advance Auto')and pour in one can and half the other.Follow directions and shift it thru its paces, going down the road.If valve body is sticky,it will free it. don-o

I have a 97 Ford Aerostar 3.0 LT wont start

the neutral safety switch is on the transmission where the gear shift cable hooks to it, and I feel like it is out of adjustment and is the cause of your problem.

Is the 1995 ford aerostar a good mini van?

There were alot of problems with the 3.8 V6. Overheating and head cracking. You'd be very lucky to find a 95 without the proble. 95-96 were the worst years. May want to consider the Mercury villager. Same as the Nissan Quest.

Aerostar transmission

The aerostar tranny cooler sits too low away from the trans and tends to become blocked and restrict the flow to the tranny It could not hurt to remove it and flush the cooler out I have had a few aerostars and I have had to flush them all,the tranny fluid came out very dark and smelled very burnt it may not solve your issue but maybe. It has solved a shifting issue for me the 1-2 is smooth as silk now.
