Question about Kia Cars & Trucks
The oil is leaking down the engine, what do i do, and the car is smoking when i drive.
That is the valve cover gasket not the manifold gasket, oil doesn't flow noise the manifold. Before you replace any parts have the engine pressure washed top and bottom, then after it is clean drive it for about 20 miles and then locate the actual leaking area.

SOURCE: fuel loss on kia sportage 2002..
I had exactly the same problem. The problem was with the fuel line clamps directly under the air plenum on the right side of the engine, right above the fuel injectors. The solution is to replace the factory spring clamps with proper hose clamps - a buck each. The real problem is that to get at the inside clamp, you have to remove the air plenum. It took me about 90 minutes to get it off and the same to reassemble. Not all that difficult, just very time consuming.

Get a can of Gunk and clean the engine according to the directions there (please do read them), with attention to the area around where the oil leak is. Once you get the motor squeaky clean, you will be able to trace back to where the oil is coming from. It may be running down the underside of a hose so you will need to look carefully. You can do all this in the driveway. You will probably have to let the engine get to operating temp before it will start leaking.

Hi if you park your car on a level surface do you have any patches on the floor?
If you do then it would point to Front or rear main seal. However it is a very common fault on 4.0l and especialy 4.6l to crack piston rings. The sumptoms are high oil useage and mostly no trace of oil leak and normaly no signs of smoking either.

This car requires to bleed the air from the sistem, look for a screw at the top of the outlet housing (the top radiator hose).
Also check if the radiator fan is turning on, it should be no later than past the center on the needle gauge .
