Not sure on the lenght but if you take the old one to a scrap yard and tell them what transmission it's out of, they should be able to fix you up. Use the old one to double check the length.

If you are writing about the shifter linkage, go to ebay and find yourself a saturn shifter repair kit.
this is a common problem, and you can do it yourself if you can get the console out. kit is less than 20 bucks.

you can buy lengths of threaded bar at any bolt shop
just take along a sample of the broken bit so that he shop assistant can identify the thread
lengths come in 500mm or 900 mm
you can cut off the length that is required
double nut at one end using locktite thread will give you the desired fix

Tip

Cheap and easy way to collapse a caliper


When replacing disc brake pads it is always nescesary to collapse the caliper again as the piston that presses the pads against the rotor is protruding too far for the (thicker) new pads to fit. Using screwdrivers and such can damage the caliper, so there are several tools available for purchase. I just figured I'd make my own.
Refer to the diagram
Use a piece of flat bar(B), more or less 1 by 4 inches and about 3/8 inch thick. Find a bolt and nut(A) that fit to each other, let's say at least half inch thick and about 2 inches long. Drill a hole in the flat bar, big enough for the bolt to fit through, weld the nut over the hole and you're good to go.
When collapsing the caliper(5), assemble the newly made tool(just screw the bolt(3) into the nut) place the flat bar(2) against the piston(1), use an old pad(4) and fit it into the caliper (this is something for the bolt to push against), and uncrew the bolt until the piston has been pressed back into the caliper.

First you need a standard to go by. Example is a wood board. It is 3/4 inch thick, 3 inches wide and 8 foot long. Linear foot is the length, not the width or the depth. Inches would be 96 linear inches. So to unfold you luggage, it would be 76 inches. This is the total outside area. In you case the width would apply, depth has no relevance.

You have to figure out which differential you have. There are two versions based on the size of the ring gear and an optional third version for a wide track off road model.
The ring gear sizes are 8.5 inch and 7 5/8 inch. The wide track option is ZR2.
The 8.5 inch gear uses a cover plate that is 10 bolts and round, the 7 5/8 gear uses a plate that is also 10 bolts but more square. You should be able to look the gasket up online or check with your auto parts store to match it up to your plate. If neither gasket looks like your plate, you may have the wide track option. The option sticker is usually in the glove box.
The 28 inch axle is normally used with the smaller ring gear, and the 30 inch is used on the 8.5.

Transmission


The tail shaft is probably a different length than your original trans so you will need to get another driveshaft. Most likely a one piece from a full size wagon or sedan will fit. Remove the carrier for the two piece shaft or it will hit when you go over a bump or load the truck up and bend the new shaft. Other than that it should be a bolt in job.
Before you take things apartm measure the total length of both transmissions. If they are different length's ( more than an inch) then go under the truck and measure from yoke to yoke in a straight line to get a length for a one piece shaft. Also measure the length of the back shaft of the 2 piece. Then go to the scrap yard and find a replacement shaft to fit the one piece dimension or the length of your old shaft plus the difference in length of the 2 transmissions (within an inch). This will save you a lot of headaches once you get the new trans in and are trying to figure out what you are going to do now, when the driveshaft doesn't fit. Hope this helps.

Transmission


It is on the left rear area under the hood, down low, between the motor and the steering column. The transmission dipstick should be yellow plastic and has a 1/2 inch square hole in the top. Insert a long handled 1/2 inch breaker bar into the fitting in the top of the dipstick, use a two-foot long 1 inch wooden dowel to push back the spring clip holding the dipstick in place, and pull out the transmission dipstick with the breaker bar. You will need a length of 1/2 inch tubing afixed to a funnel to add tranasission fluid. I highly recommend changing the transmission oil often to protect the transmission. Be sure to pump all the old fluid out and not just drain the pan. See Brickboard.
