Car starts fine when cold driving while turn off car will not restart good power just turn key and nothing after sitting awhile car will restart starter rebuild still having problems

The next time it fails to start you need to have the fuel pressure tested, the electric fuel pump might be sticking off due to wear.

Tries to turn over then wont let it sit awhile then it starts

It could be starter heatsoak (starter gets hot from engine heat and needs to cool down first).
You can fix it by putting heat wrap on the starter.

Sounds like the starter to me(I assumed you meant won't crank when hot).I have replaced only 1 starter(on my neighbor's Taurus)in the 15 years after quitting the GM dealer tech job 15 years ago.I probably could make a career just changing GM starters and alternators.(I only have Mopars in my driveway!)

First i would check the crank sensor by looking for rpm's on the tachometer or scan tool if you see any rpm's then crank sensor is good. Then check for leaking injectors and if they are not leaking then you will need to check the ECM it may have failed.

I have a similar problem to one I see listed earlier...I have trouble starting my '95 Mustang GT in the morning or after sitting for any length of time. Once it does start...it seems to work all...

pull off your starter and have it tested at your local auto parts store while cold... you may have a weak solenoid or some corrosion on the starter ring gear shaft.

The starter only engages when it wants to.when the engine is cold it starts fine, but after driving it awhile and then shutting the motor off, it doesnt engage or turn the motor at all,not until it has sat...

u can bring ur car to a shop wen its hot an get a charging an starting system check, wat ur after is to see ur starter current amp draw, sounds like wen its hot its amping out meaning ur probably drawing over 250amps meaning ur starter motor is worn out internally, this test should confirm this allowing u to replace starter and ur issue being resolved...... good luck hope this helps

Won't start, well if it sits for awhile then it starts, then you drive it around and it drives ok, then when you park it and turn the engine off it won't restart, then it sits for awhile hours i mean then...

Most likely your starter. The heat from the engine heats the starter, and a hot electric motor is not as strong as a cold one. I had the same problem on a 1985 S-10, I had replaced the starter about a year earlier so I thought it couldn't be the starter. It was.

Some auto parts stores can test the starter (on the car), if you want to be sure.

Car is dead. When I try to start it, no sound.

If you had power ie lights radio etc, the problem is likely the starter. When a bad starter gets hot, it will fail to start the car but when it's cold (1st thing in the morning or after sitting awhile) it will start the car. If this is what you've been experiencing, you should have the service station check out the starter. Best of luck.
