Question about 2003 Ford Focus
Several occasions my 2003 ford focus has lunged forward whe my foot is on the brake.
This problem is known to Ford and the Transportation Safety Board (TSB). You might check with both to find out whether a recall has been issued or is planned

check the swiches at the brake pedal their should be two. one for brake lights and one for transmission dump valve it prevents the engine from loading up at lower rpm. ie stoping at lights while in drive

if you have rear disc brakes all you have to do is take the two bolts off and lift the caliper off and pull the pads out but now if you have drums there is a rubber boot behind the whole drum assembly take it out use a screw driver or a brake tool to back off the tension of the shoes
